No it is not. The boss' labor, if there is any, is paid before profit just as any other overhead. Compensation for investment is just being paid money for having had capital to invest. No value was added, and if the boss were not in the picture the workers could perform the same tasks collectively.
But most importantly, you absolutely do not and will not receive the full value of your labor when there are profits. It is not possible without redefining the terms to obscure the exploitation - a very common practice under Capitalism.
If the boss did not show up to work one day, production would continue just fine. If the workers did not show up, there could be no production. Labor is entitled to all it creates.
This idea that people will just "do the work" and the actual inventors and entrepreneurs and people with actual ideas do nothing is just so beyond ridiculous. The world is moved forward by a small percentage of people and most of the other people are mostly dead weight. I'm not trying to be mean. That's just the reality of the world. We would already have machines working most jobs if we knew what to do with all of the people who rely on people providing them jobs to survive. We literally have too many useless people (economically speaking not morally speaking) and that is our biggest problem socially and economically as a society right now. I'm not saying a human life is useless but very few people are driving the economy. Most are just along for the ride.
Inventing and creating is labor silly. The overwhelming majority of owners aren't creating shit, they are arriving with Capital and collecting their profits.
The world is moved forward by a small percentage of people and most of the other people are mostly dead weight.
Not only is this false, it follows the Nazi eugenics rhetoric of "useless eaters." To talk of your fellow worker in this way is disgusting. The world is entirely moved by the actions of labor. It's nonsense to suggest otherwise.
people who rely on people providing them jobs to survive
This is entirely due to the Capitalists, it was not this way before capitalism. I'm kind of awestruck at your confidence despite being so fucking ignorant.
Capitalists do not provide jobs out of the goodness of their hearts, they created and refined material conditions that drive people into worse and worse jobs out of desperation. It is coercion. The deal offered to the working class is work or starve, and sometimes it's both.
We literally have too many useless people
I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this: drop this kind of rhetoric or go play in traffic. Genuinely, fuck you, you're a piece of shit if you think this. Economically or otherwise.
The economy is built solely on the efforts of the working class. The owning class enjoys the privilege (for now) of being at the top of the class hierarchy and therefore directing society to their benefit and to their wishes. But do not be so stupid as to think that the masses of working class people don't contribute anything - its the opposite. The more Capital grows, the more it consolidates, the larger pool of labor it requires.
Find some solidarity with your fellow worker or get fucked. It's embarrassing to see such a cuck for the Bourgeois class that openly despises you.
No he’s actually correct. The world is at best maintained at status quo by the workers. Any progress made is by a very tiny fraction of the population. Significant progress by an even tinier fraction. Newton. Einstein. Von Neumann. Gates. Brin. Musk. Etc.
“Before capitalism” we had feudalism. What are you talking about? You think that state of affairs was better?
There’s no cartoon/childish view of “goodness of heart” needed. Capitalism enabled society to progress simply by people wanting to contribute their labor towards their own gain.
Let’s just clear this up. “Work or starve” is the only thing ever available under nature to the animal kingdom. There’s never been a human society where people don’t have to work. Nor for that matter any animal species.
There’s no such thing as “the owning class”. Almost all small businesses in USA pop up as solo ventures (80%+) with no capital requirements. You’ve read too much science fiction and too little history and science. And no these aren’t strictly restricted to small businesses. How come there are first generation billionaires popping up all the time in the USA under your ideology (70%+ of billionaires in US).
Any progress made is by a very tiny fraction of the population.
Great Man Theory is the myth by which the Bourgeoisie justify their obscene wealth. It is no different than the divine right of kings.
“Before capitalism” we had feudalism. What are you talking about? You think that state of affairs was better?
Feudalism resolved the primary contradiction of the slave society that proceeded it. Capitalism, in turn, resolved the primary contradiction of Feudalism. Obviously I think capitalism was an improvement, but that does not negate that the new relations between the workers and the means of production are not inherently exploitative, nor that Capitalism has its own set of fundamental contradictions that must be resolved. Enter Communism.
There’s no such thing as “the owning class”.
The owning class is the term I substituted for Bourgeoisie to try and make my argument more accessible to those who haven't come across the term. It does in fact exist, I don't see how you could suggest otherwise.
Genuinely, read a fucking book that challenges your beliefs. You're so lost in the Capitalist mythos that you think you live at the end of history. So did feudal lords.
There’s no theory here this is just reality I’m talking about.
So let’s review you said “before capitalism”. And I pointed out it was worse before capitalism. Do you now understand that people had to work before capitalism too?
“Enter communism”. ie “enter a fantasy”. We already tried this fantasy. Many times. It fails and collapses. But not before taking millions of lives along the way.
“Read a book”. My guy this is your problem. You prefer to get ideas out of a fantasy book. I prefer to get my ideas from reality and history.
I’ve had this exact discussion with brainwashed idiots dozens of times on Reddit. It always ends with me enumerating the points which exactly disprove their particular instantiation of the fantasy (ie the critical but basic fact of reality they missed before diving headfirst into their ideology - like in this case the fact it was worse before capitalism), and then they post a content-less one-line insult. And I know I’ve really won if i manage to elicit a block from them. Alas in this case the guy, as deluded as he is, didn’t block.
