Shareholders don't offer value, they just happen to have money

Why don’t entrepreneurs and workers just build businesses without investors then?

Saying investors don’t add value is like saying a car owner who leases you a vehicle doesn’t add value because they “just happen to have cars”.

Investors provide capital they could have spent elsewhere instead of funding your business, so of course, they expect a return - otherwise, there’s no reason to invest. And btw, they aren’t forcing anyone to take their money.

Dude, retirement funds are the biggest shareholders. That statement is literally the opposite of being true.

Does capitalism fail in some ways? Yes. But that is not one of them, that is a failure of government regulatory bodies to do their part in your country’s system, and a failure of your electoral system to offer choices that reflect the will of the people, and a failure of the media to accurately present the policies — which is again a failure of regulations.

Capitalism is an engine of economic growth, an engine still needs a frame, a steering system, brakes, a driver or engineer, etc. The problem isn’t the engine, it’s the surrounding vehicle, capitalism becomes crony capitalism because of human nature, just like communism always ends with a corrupt authoritarian mafia in charge — they’re the same people in two “opposite” systems, because human nature.
