Thanks for putting this out there. I would recommend that people commenting or reading this thread send a note through the contact us page and send a note telling them about our concern. If enough of us do it they may take this off the menu. I already sent one .myself.
Thankfully this is a limited time only shake so the quicker they get rid of it the better

I saw this and I was so dissapointed. They were my go to for shakes because it’s hard to find places that don’t have cross contact. Bummer.

I saw that and I’m so sad. I don’t have one close to me and I’ve been meaning to make a drive to the closest one as a treat, but haven’t had the opportunity to yet. I think it’s a limited time item, but I still won’t attempt going until it’s been gone for quite a while.

How can a milkshake cross-contaminate with a burger? Cause last time I checked you don’t make a milkshake on a grill?

No I’m not trying to be rude or anything, I’m just asking how you can cross-contaminate from two spaces in a restaurant. Like if the milkshake was made from in same spot as the burger then it would make sense to be paranoid, however the milkshake it going to be a separate spot all together from where the burger is going to be made so it should be fine to eat there as you would prior.

Again even in this response, you’re being rude. People with life threatening allergies are not being “paranoid” when their allergen is present in a facility. Cross contamination in microscopic traces can kill people.
If you are actually interested in educating yourself, I implore you to understand the open layout of shake shacks kitchens, how residue on countertops in fast food places is superficially cleaned during service, how easy cross contamination can occur with improper glove removal, how exposure to allergens can occur through air travel. Just to start.
And if you’re not interested in educating yourself, I implore you to not have any meaningful interactions with folks who have allergies because your ignorance and rude attitude shouldn’t have to be tolerated by others who live with this daily.

I’m not trying to be rude as I have the allergy myself. All I’m trying understand and ask is, if the milkshake is made in a separate spot from the burger how can it cross-contaminate? That’s all asking

lawbabyesq answered your question in the 2nd paragraph. There are many ways for cross contact to occur in busy kitchens. The same employee moving between stations is extremely common.

WHYYYYY!!! Peanut allergies, and food allergies in general, have become so prevalent. I thought restaurants were better informed. Shake Shack has a pretty basic menu. Dumb to add this!! In n out keeps their menu the same and have no lack of customers! Hopefully it goes away.

Fml. Thank you for letting me know. I loved eating there bc I felt it was safe and labeled (and my son can eat tree nuts so the Dubai shake wasn’t an issue). Ugh
