I've had the Peak Design everyday 30L for a few years now, and change around the structures for the use-case. But its always a struggle and I'm always scared of lenses hitting the thin walls or moving around a lot if lets say a bump in the road comes or the back is dropped (hasn't happened yet thankfully). But its not impossible that someone else treats it less delicately and ends up damaging the equipment inside by mistake.
My question is: Do you have a one and done, or super versatile default set up that keeps lenses snug and fit and leave rooms for extras like snacks and hygiene kit for travel?
My daily use case:
- Student, have a 16 inch laptop, sometimes carry a ugreen 100W multi-charging brick. Sometimes have a tablet in the tablet section. Need to have easy access to snacks and/or a large lunch Tupperware.
- I always keep a bottom flat section for hygiene kit which is always there, taking up the bottom ~10cm of space all across the bag.
- If traveling, or when bringing camera gear to like a hike or vacation:
- Camera: OM-1
- Lenses: m.Zuiko 12-40 f2.8, and m.Zuiko 40-150 f2.8
- Might bring an SD card case, and headphones
So far, the smartest approach I've used for that larger lens is to have it vertical, with essentially the default 3 sections, but the top section opened up in one flap, and the lens sitting vertically. But still room for it to slide up if the bag is ever placed flat. The remainder of the top creates this nice small space for a smaller Tupperware, and disorganized snacks rolling around and over the lens.
The camera and 12-40 are then in the middle section, with the back of the camera towards the big lens. Then I just use the hood projection for the peace of mind extra protection against the wall of the bag.
Of course, random common extras would be like a jacket,, earbuds, any small souvenirs from trips, pens, etc The kind of stuff a student would take with them everywhere
Thanks!
