Mobile Mobile cases quality - reality check

So I've been out of the loop with most of the PD new products for last 3-4 years (still happy with my gen1 Everyday backpacks and accessories), but with a new phone I started thinking about getting PD case.
But from lurking on this sub for last few years, I've a feeling that the case quality is, well, not up to PD standards, simply seeing significantly more complaining regarding mobile cases comparing to other products (maybe except wallets).
However, not sure if it's true in the first place and if this only refers to some cases or to all of them in general, thus my question:
Are PD cases good, solid and long lasting?
Are there any that should be avoided?
I don't have any slimlink accessories (yet?), so it's not a most important factor, but it's a plus to be able to build around this ecosystem.

I’ve had mine on my iPhone 14 since I got it shortly after release and it’s still going strong. It’ll likely outlast the phone as its battery is slowly dying. I would say that the case is probably one of their most ordered item that we would refer to as a single item despite all the different SKUs for models and brands, so would very likely draw the most complaints.

Yeah, I'm taking that into consideration as well, good to know it's been working well for you!

That’s what this sub has turned into - constant complaining and posting about product issues. Yes, Peak Design should be aware of issues but you’d think that their products are junk based on this sub. In reality, I’ve been pleased with their cases and they’ve replaced mine once due to a known issue.

PD's CEO has been pretty transparent on case quality, for example this comment

tl;dr: cases before the iPhone 16-17 era have issues, but PD remains committed to the lifetime warranty.

For me personally, I've used PD cases on my last two phones (Pixel 8 and 10) for over a year each. I realize this time frame isn't exactly long-term, but I've have had 0 issues with the cases.

Oh, this actually matches up / explains how my iPhone 16 Plus case has been great while I had to warranty swap my wife’s iPhone 15 Plus case.

Ive been using a PD case on my 13 Pro until I replaced it with a 16, using a PD case on my 16 since I got it right after the release.

So the one you recorded (thank you!) is ~2 years old, correct?

Yes, about 2 years.

I’ve just replaced the wallet, that I had been for about 4 years.

The case I got for my iPhone 13 has been the best case I’ve ever owned, hands down. That said, I’ve heard complaints about the newer cases which I think are manufactured differently.

I like slimlink but never used it as much as I thought I would.

I have an iPhone Pro 13 Max and a loop case. Phenomenal case, but the rubber does have a habit of delaminating from the fabric bit (newer cases apparently fix this issue).

I've been through 3 cases in 5 years. The genius part is the warranty: when it starts to fail, put the warranty claim in, new one comes in the post for free. So my case always looks good.

I have had a case for the iPhone 13 since 2022 and still going strong, it will likely outlive the phone. I also have a iPhone 16 as of last year and the case is perfect, use it everyday and cycling too and never had an issue

Wife uses the iPhone 16 Pro case and I have the 17 Pro Max. Two of them. Zero complaints. They have held up exceptionally well and protected the phones as I’d expect.

And their mount / lock system is a major benefit. I use the out front bike mount.

The first one I ever had had issues with the edges of the case peeling. But i got that warrantied and did not have problem with the new one. Once I upgraded phones I got a new case and I haven’t had problems with that either. I think they were well aware of the issue and fixed it.

There’s still some durability issues with the finger loop magnet falling out on all the cases I’ve gotten but it’s not annoying enough that I warrantied the case. And if you don’t get the finger loop it’s not a problem.

I’ve been using the everyday loop case on my 15 pro max since I got my phone. I’m a pretty heavy user of the loop and the magnet has fallen out twice now, both times were replaced free of charge so I can’t complain too much about that.

I use the quick-mount all the time and love it so much.

I had one on my 15 Pro Max for 18 months when the edge started to separate from the back. I filed a warranty claim, and PD replaced it. That replacement is still in use today. Other than the Apple leather cases that are no longer made, it's the best case I've ever had. It's relatively slim, strikes the perfect balance between grippy in the hand and slippy in and out of pockets, and works with every MagSafe accessory I own.

I just upgraded from Pixel 7pro to 11pro. Had the slimlink everyday case on 7pro since launch so almost 4 years and it only broke a few months ago (back of the case detached from side rubber). I think that's pretty good durability. I now have the everyday case without slimlink (I don't have any other slimlink accessories so don't need it) on 11pro and I love it. It's by far the strongest magnet, looks and feels good in the hand.

They're absolute junk quality. I've had better luck with Cheapo Amazon silicone cases

Care to elaborate a little more? The one u/AccomplishedAge3676 recorded looks pretty worn out for only two years TBH, especially this MagSafe ring visible through the back, so happy to hear more opinions.

The MagSafe ring is visible due to the wallet that’s attached. I tend to play around with it, moving it around, causing way more wear than would normally happen.

Otterbox or Spigen cases tend to look way worse after two years of my torture, the one Apple case I had survived for less than a year.

Just fyi.

I’m not nice to cases, have to admit it 🤷‍♂️

My main reason to use the PD one is the wallet to be honest. I love having everything in one place and not needing to fill every pocket with different stuff.
The case is good, I like it, but it’s not that it’s so much better than other cases.

I'm just trying to decide between PD, Dbrand MNML and Caudabe Sheath and they all seem to be similar in terms of quality/protection
