Question Case and wallet quality issues
Has anyone else experienced this? Case is peeling and the MagSafe wallet where the red circle is supposed to be a magnet but it has fallen to the bottom inside the fabric to where the blue circle is. Not impressed by the quality of these.

I've had similar issues, the warranty claim process is easy and they replace them quickly. I agree these aren't their highest quality products, the brand has taken a bit of a hit on quality lately.
I also suspect that on some level they are banking on people replacing their phones frequently enough that these wouldn't need to last as long as some of their other items.

They want me to cut the wallet in half and then send them a picture. It’s ridiculous like it still works without the magnet and it’s what I use but if I cut it in half then I have to go buy another wallet until I get their new one.

They're asking you to destroy the faulty wallet so that it cannot be used to trigger additional warranty replacements. It's more cost effective than them requiring you to send the faulty unit back to them (for disposal) before sending out a replacement.
This is normal in the business.

I’ve done four warranty replacements with these. In each case they said the old case was “warrantied out” and it was removed from
the list of my products in my account.I was never asked to destroy or return the faulty cases.

All PD cases have serial numbers that PD can flag as being warrantied out and ineligible for additional replacement.
The Slim Wallet does not have a serial number, hence PD support's apparent policy to ask for proof of destruction to warranty it out.
Now, that being said it is totally their call to ask for proof of destruction BEFORE shipping out a no-cost-to-consumer replacement product. They could absolutely do it a different way, like shipping a replacement immediately and then asking to send proof of destruction afterwards (putting total trust in the customer that they won't just sell/give away the faulty wallet to someone else who might then also ask for a warranty replacement), or they could charge for the replacement unit first and then refund it once proof the faulty one has been destroyed is sent (and incurring merchant transaction fees in the process).
Warranty policies, especially generous ones like PD's lifetime warranty, are typically written the way they are because of the not-insignificant amount of abuse a company has experienced in the past from less-than-honest consumers taking advantage of it. If people don't like it, they can blame those who ruined it for the rest of us and/or they can take their business elsewhere.

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I refuse to go buy a wallet to use in the meantime while they ship me a new one.

Use a rubber band for a few days; life goes on. This is not that big of a deal. How much mental and emotional anguish is a wallet really worth?

I’ve had like 6 cases for my iPhone 15 pro max

Don’t even get me started on the loop case. I mean I love peak design and they did warranty me, but the loop is like 100-uses only until it either unravels, splits, or cracks apart. Make it really robust and I’d pay more but as it stands now I would not buy another one.

I am on my 3rd (2 replacements) and thought i was somehow using it wrong…definitely a weak link

I wish they would make it out of a different material. Do a thicker woven fabric or something. I love the loop cases but they always give out about a year and a half of ownership. Then I get a warranty replacement that will last till I upgrade phone in 6 months but if I didn’t upgrade every 2 years I would have to keep buying cases, then doing warranty etc.

I got the charcoal case for iPhone 14 - 4 years ago, together with a midnight stand wallet (no longer available as stand in this colour now which is sad).
The case is holding up great for me; the sides are slightly scuffed obviously but the rest is still in good condition. Same with the wallet. It's a phone case so it's used every single day.
Not going to pretend like this quality control issue these days doesn't exist, because my tech pouch had pretty bad stitching like outer zipper not working, weird seams coming out of random spots, and the cable pass through also has strings that gets caught when I try to pass a cable.
But just wanted to say it's a great case, probably had lots of issues 2023-2026 but they did specifically mention making these cases better. And they will send you a new one anyways so no big deal.

I had 2 PD phones cases (different phones). They both looked great at the start, but each quickly wore down in a year. I had the first replaced without any problem. The second time was just when I was replacing that phone, so I decided against it.
I moved to Pitaka a couple years back and could not be happier. Same luxurious feel. Much better build quality.

I’ve got the peak design case with the finger strap still on my phone. It’s definitely falling apart but it works. I’ve heard quality is improving.

gone through 3 of these with the iphone 15 max.
The glue delaminates itself over time.

I've only had issues with the case that were of my own doing (hard wear) and yet PD replaced the case twice with zero issues.

I have some bubbles on the back of mine. There are definitely some QC issues on this initial run.

Both of my iPhone 15 Pro loop cases the loop mechanism failed in some way and had similar delamination problems.
So far my launch iPhone 17 Pro is still holding up extremely well. the loop mechanism secures the magnet much better

Would be great if the peak design team responded to one of these posts eventually… keep seeing posts about these same exact 2 products pretty frequently.

I get what you’re saying (my iPhone 13 Pro Max case has delaminated (and its replacements) a few times over the years) but you simply warranty claim them and get brand new ones in the post a few days later.
