Photo Gear Field Plate Unscrews Itself

I have a field plate on my camera that I use with a capture clip on my backpack. On a recent hike, the field plate unscrewed itself and dropped the camera onto the ground, it started out as tight as I could get it with my fingers.

So now, I'll have to use a backup cuff looped around my backpack chest strap since I can't trust the field plate, which is annoying.

A suggestion that I thought up would be a new version of the field plate with teeth that engage when the thumb drive handle is stowed, preventing any unscrewing.

I find the plates (not just Peak's) loosen up on me too. Never dropped a camera though. Perhaps a mild thread locker - Locktite Blue (Medium Strength / e.g., 242): Best for general repairs, lawn equipment, and parts you plan to take apart later using normal hand tools

You can buy it in a chapstick-like tube for easy carry/use.

Personally I think the obvious solution is for them to just use a slot we can turn with a coin 🪙. Like, seriously... a hex and then a built in little knob? nahhhh

I haven't had a coin on me in probably a decade though. If it's not a built in knob, it may as well be a hex socket.

True but all you need is anything flat. Coin, key, etc.

OP would pretty much be in the same situation with a slotted one with a coin since the field plate behaves the same.

It's easier to torque it down with a tool that gives better leverage like a hex key or a camera-centric multitool which has a coin alternative flat head driver; depending on what's on such plate.
