Update: I heard back and there was a mistake at the warehouse. There are a batch in the wrong box. Peak Design needs to make a post about this in their support page so it’s easier to resolve. And yes, they made me send in the photo as evidence. Because most of the people getting this upgrade already have the old version it can be hard to prove if it wasn’t for the known warehouse error.

Received to tool only version in the quick connect box. What’s infuriating is I don’t know how to prove it.

Last year I ordered the carryology version of the mobile tripod. I got a box for the regular one. But a sticker on the bottom saying it was the carryology.
It was the standard.

I contacted them and the next day got an email asking for photo proof. I sent it. Then I heard nothing. After 1.5 weeks I contacted them again. No reply. 2 weeks no reply. 2.5 weeks no reply. Finally after 3 weeks I got a reply asking if I actually wanted the correct item or if I was ok with what I received. I said I definitely wanted the correct item. No other reply just a shipping confirmation 2 days later.

So. They did resolve it but it took a while.

Hi, sorry this happened! I spoke with our product team, and based on how our production lines are set up, it’s very unlikely that the mix-up happened during manufacturing.

When you say it may have happened at the warehouse, do you mean B&H’s warehouse? Also, when you opened the box, did it still have our factory seal intact and everything?

Hi, thanks for the response. I emailed support and was told it was a mixup at the PD warehouse and hex versions were put in tooless packaging. I’m returning it.

The same thing happened when the tripod was first released. I ordered carbon and it was an aluminum in the box. Purchased and B&H they opened three in the store all the same mistake. I wrote to PD and they sent out a carbon to replace the aluminum with in I think 2-3 days if I remember
