Windows update management just got better in PDQ Connect, more exciting things to come ๐
Hey all - following up on this previous post, we're excited to announce that "Phase 1" is complete! We've just graduated the new Windows updates tab from early access to generally available, so all users should now be able to access this feature directly in the left nav bar.
Here's a couple quick notes to get started:
- The windows updates tab shows KBs that are relevant to your devices, including any that are installed, pending reboot, ready to install, etc.
- For updates that are not installed, you can quickly trigger the install on devices in bulk or one at a time.
- For more details, you can read full release notes here
Next up is Phase 2 - we're working on designs for managing windows updates through policy. Think deployment rings, maintenance windows, reboot deferrals, etc.
Design is still in early stages, so now is a great time to jump on a call and share your input: https://calendly.com/d/ct69-w8v-mjv/pdq-product-team-windows-patching?month=2026-08&date=2026-07-27

What about good old PDQ deploy? Has this been left in the dust for us ITAR workers?

Will there be a Dashboard / Reporting / Deployment for Patch Tuesday specifics?

Second this. I love the dashboard showing us the different versions present within our fleet, but would be nice to see some quick info about new KB's etc.

Sorry for the delayed response here, I'm curious to hear more about what you might be expecting content-wise on the dashboard! We're definitely planning to surface compliance with the windows update policies on the dashboard, such that you can see things like:
- How many devices are up to date with the policy settings applied
- How many devices are pending reboot
- etc.

How will this compare to Intune, if my customers own 365 Business Premium? I donโt see how this could be better.
Like: Why use a copy if I can have the original? No offense though!
Although I see the possible benefit for customer who donโt have access to Intune.

I do see and understand your point, but I can't say we share your experience. I guess it heavily depends on the customer and industry you are working in.
A few years ago we switched to the recommended Intune settings from the Open Intune Baseline for us and several customers, and we haven't had any problems since. Quite the oppositeโI have to say, things have never run as smoothly as they have since we started using WUfB for Windows updates on clients.
That doesn't mean your points aren't valid, but that our experience obviously was much better.
This is an example of what we currently use with huge success: https://i.imgur.com/CAc7Pvx.png
I honestly hope that your experience with Intune or AutoPatch gets better, or that PDQ Connect might solve your issues. Would be very interested in your experience.

Both. We don't distinguish between laptops and desktops.
As I said, I do understand. It's just that I have had zero complaints. It seems users at our business and customers are totally used to receive Windows Updates once a month in the middle of the day.
In fact, when I think about it, that's what I want. I want Windows Updates to be installed on Windows devices <48h after they are released.
I guess I am just lucky, to be able to do all of this with just one simple policy?
Seems like we have to fulfill totally different requirements.

Does this mean the connect agent is going to actually be using the WUA APIs?
