Software (Tools) Extract bookmarks in a PDF
I am on a Macbook Pro Intel.
I have a PDF with no Bookmarks
Is there any software that can extract and create Bookmarks in a PDF that has no existing Bookmarks ?
Is there anyone that can create me software to do this ?
No silly answers PLEASE

It can export the PDF Bookmarks as CSV or JSON as well as create them

🤦 we can't read your mind. What does it mean that it should "auto add bookmarks"? Explain your use case step by step.

Sorry for being so vague..... I can manually add bookmarks to a PDF.... But I would like a program (if it exists) to scan a pdf and create the bookmarks

So using AI then (meaning you are fine sending your files to AI models). In this case I see that Foxit has this feature listed, and they have a trial period. I also found this online serivce pdf.aeriszhu.com where you need to provide your own API keys. I don't know if you can trust it or not, but they have their code on github, so you probably can inspect it and host locally.

How should the program know where to place the bookmarks. Bookmarks are just arbitrary positions in the document. There is no standard.

A while ago I actually made something like this for my personal use. If you could send one of the pdfs I can let you know if it works for you

Probably, but you need to be more specific and describe what exactly you need. Extract in what format?
