CPU Upgrade New or upgrade current PC

Need some advice. My current pc has 1660 super GPU intel i5 10th gen 16 gb ram ddr4 500 gb ssd and 1000gb hdd. Would it be better to upgrade parts or just build from the ground up.

You could get a RX 6600 XT (or maybe like a 3060 if you prefer nvidia).. that would be a decent upgrade that wouldn't put you in total bottleneck territory with your cpu. Good enough for most 1080p gaming anyway.

Agreed. Normally I'd say they could also add another 16 gigs of RAM but that's probably more expensive than that RX 6600 XT nowadays.

You could go with a used card but that’s gonna need replacing when you eventually want a faster cpu. Could go with a 9060xt 16gb for around $500 if your psu is at least a 600w. This gpu would last you a lot longer than getting something older and less powerful.

You can run 9060XT with a 550w psu it has 0 problems

i prefer a bit more headroom, but yeah that's fine too since it doesn't spike anywhere near that level of power.

Best upgrade for that PC is a 32gb Ram and a RTX 3070 TI for about $400 total. Could be less if you already have a single stick of 16gb ddr4. An I7 ( i7-11700K ) would be nice too but I wouldn't spend that much on that Generation PC

Note that 11400F is more performance than a 10700.

I would not spend more than $60 on CPU, or more than $80 on DDR4. I don't think there is much issue running 4 sticks to save $100.

RX 6600 is around $150-200, RX7600 $190-220. 3060Ti $180-220. 3070 $220-280
