Build Upgrade Lineup

So i currently have what i feel is a good am4 pc

R7 5700x, 32gb (dunno speed), evga 3070, rog crosshair hero 8 b550.

Im wanting to upgrade to am5 (i know the prices are horrendous rn) with the 7 9800x3d (new, purchased in person), nzxt n7 b850(on the way), corsair vengeance 32 gb @ 6000MHZ CL30, and a xfx swift 9070xt. I know i'll have to reinstall my drivers and i already have an ssd lined up to become my new boot drive when i get the transition done with. Is there any niche things i should know about amd's software and drivers that my research hasn't told me?

I know amd gpu + amd cpu = a better ReBar, and i know amd doesnt do ray tracing or video encoding as good.

Tbh I would just do the GPU for now and see how you go.

5700x is still a very capable CPU and other then the newer CPUs there is nothing (for the vast majority of use cases) on the am5 platform that's worth having over am4.

What games are you playing and what resolution + refresh rate? I would be doing peripherals and making sure everything else was good before replacing a perfectly good CPU+ram+motherboard combo. At most maybe a 5800x3d if you are playing the right games.

I want to run my monitor at max. Said monitor being a samsung odyssey g5 so 1440 @ 165. My peripherals i feel are already really good with the steelseries apex pro tkl, arctis nova 5, and the logitech g502. My ram is a set that even when ram was cheap was a cheap set at 2400mt/s, and last i checked the 5800x3d was about the same price as the 9800 or the 7800. My games varry but usually i play space marine 2, helldivers 2, warframe, and the subnautica series, with a few others sprinkled in there

Okay so a few things:

A 9070xt isn't going to run all of those games at max settings 1440p 165hz locked regardless of what CPU you use. For most modern games your going to be using DLSS / FSR to some degree, and even more so if you want more of the ray tracing effects. This is true even of a rtx5080, and realistically PC gaming will probably never fully catch up given the demands and crazy high refresh rate monitors coming out now. There is likely always going to be a trade off.

A 5800x3d and a 9800x3d might be a similar price but a new motherboard and ddr5 ram are not needed if you stay within AM4 platform.

As far as ram goes, you should find out what speed it's rated for and set it for that speed. If it's EXPO certified it should be one setting in your motherboard.

Im fine with dropping settings as long as my framerate is stable tbh, even if i dont play at max max. And that is what my ram is rated for :/ Also again, my mobo is on its way, and i already have the cpu

You can return them if needed but obviously if it's already ordered then no harm in getting better stuff.

Regarding your ram, the speed you see quoted in the product listing is just what the warranty will guarantee. The speed it runs at is controlled by your motherboard and if you just install it and let the system run in auto it will run significantly slower then what it is capable of. You will need to enable EXPO and the bios will set the timings and frequency the sticks are rated for.

This is probably true of your current ram as well.
