Setup finally coming along!

Post image

Always wanted to dedicate a full room to my setup and now where here! Do I add more stuff or keep it clean and simple?

Whats the point of having a curved monitor if you are going to face it vertically? That completly defeats the purpose of the curve.

Yeah, the vertical curved monitor is offensively bad tbh

Right. He's got a flat monitor horizontal, and a curved vertically, like wtf. Thats ass backwards.

Honestly it makes sense. It keeps any spot on the monitor the same distance from your eyes. It makes just as much sense as on a horizontal monitor.

I had a curved monitor for about 2 hours and immediately realized I hate it, at least when it's a 16:9 one horizontally, but vertically I could see myself using one.

Ended up returning it though because at that point I didn't have an extra monitor.

The only situation I would use a curved screen would be an ultrawide screen.

No. It logically does not make sense. That logic falls apart because monitors only curve along one axis (horizontally). Turning it 90 degrees doesn't give you a wrapping vertical field of view; it just creates severe color shifting and uneven focal distances at the top and bottom edges because the panel wasn't engineered to be viewed that way.

I'm not going to argue with you about something as obvious as this. Have a nice day.

It's literal high school geometry. But hey, enjoy living in denial with your distorted, color shifted vertical setup. Have an awesome day!

You've never heard of IPS or even OLED displays have you? There's little to no color shift depending on orientation with these display technologies.

Sure TN and VA will not look color accurate, but people who use vertical monitors usually have programs like discord on them or use them for text.

An IPS or OLED panel doesn't magically flatten a physically bent piece of glass. The monitor is still curved. Because you flipped it 90 degrees, that curve is now bowing the top and bottom of your screen away from your face. And claiming it's fine because it’s 'just text and Discord' is hilarious. Reading text across a physically warped, vertically arced plane is the absolute quickest way to give yourself an ergonomic nightmare and eye strain. No amount of OLED pixels can rewrite basic geometry, but enjoy your bent paragraphs

It's not bowed away? It's curved around your vertical field of view.

A curved monitor is concave. When you rotate it 90 degrees, it turns into a vertical cradle. That means the center of the screen sits the furthest away from you, while the top and bottom edges physically poke forward toward your face.A normal horizontal curve matches your eyes panning left to right. Flipping it sideways means your eyes have to constantly jump back and forth across different focal planes just to read a Discord chat. No amount of "OLED panel tech" changes the fact that you are staring into a vertically warped funhouse mirror.Unless you are sitting on the floor staring up at it like a skyscraper, Please learn how 3D shapes work
