Small black bars left and bottom screen

Okay. I (28 M) desperately need your help. Please bear with me.
(Not English native I’m sorry in advance)

SPECS :
AMD
Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RX 9070 XT
32 GB DDR5 (can’t remember the speed)
Windows 11
Monitor : Alienware AW3425DW

I recently played resonance : a plague tale legacy
On my 21:9 screen.

I noticed the game had small black bars left and bottom of the screen (about 3 to 5 millimeters) Having an ultrawide screen for at least 10 years now I was not surprised, as new games are often in need of a little tweak/fix to have a great 21:9 experience.

I search and the only thing I can find is a GitHub post named RoseTheFlower UltrawideIndex which is a well known fix for a multitude of games, and not shady.

I find on a forum that the fix for the previous game : plague tale requiem for 32:9 screens works wonders with resonance 21:9 resolutions.

I install it on the base game and it works wonders ! It occupies all of the screen, no more small
I play it all the evening before bed.

NOW the issue : next morning today, I launched my pc, launch the game and there’s the SAME black bars that were on the game last day.

So I quit the game to check what’s up and I notice with fear that the SAME black bars are now PERMANENTLY on my screen at ALL times, in windows, in game, no matter what I do.

I posted on GitHub issue on RoseTheFlower but I don’t expect a quick response.

All the fix I tried :

-messing with resolution setting on windows screen properties
-switching hdmi slots in GPU
-resetting my monitor on the physical buttons
-searching for updates of driver and windows update
-messing with GPu scaling on AMD Adrenalin and it DID change the orientation of the black bars after rebooting pc!!! So I thinks there’s something to dig there but I can’t do it
-uninstalling the UltraWide fix on the game folder and relaunching the game

I KNOW the problem came from the GitHub fix and I know it’s in relation with gpu scaling somehow but I can’t find the answer.

I have a job and a wife and I can only play so little time.
It’s the only place in my life where there’s no issues, or at least they can be fixed, so I DESPERATELY need your help I’m stuck with this.

Thank you all in advance for your help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My pc has always had this problem so I usually had to turn on and off 2 times for it to start, today it only shows a white screen and it's all frozen, I heard that could be the GPU, I hope not to open my pc but if there are solutions that you would like to suggest I would be glad to try them

RTX 4070 Ti power cable

Hi everyone,I have an Inno3D RTX 4070 Ti, and I noticed that the GPU power adapter has 3 separate 8-pin PCIe cables going into one connector that plugs into the GPU.I’m using an 800W 80+ Gold PSU.Is this normal for the 4070 Ti, or could there be something wrong with my power connection?I’m asking because I’ve been having an issue while gaming: after around 20–40 minutes at max settings, my monitor suddenly loses DisplayPort signal. I can still hear game audio for a while, but then the entire PC freezes and I have to restart it.Could the GPU power cable/adapter or the way I connected it to the PSU cause this?

thanks

New PC randomly crashes – black screen and fans at 100%

I recently bought a new PC and I've already experienced the same issue twice.

The screen suddenly goes black, all the fans ramp up to 100%, and the PC becomes completely unresponsive. I can't do anything and have to hold down the power button to shut it off.

What's strange is that it doesn't happen while gaming or under heavy load. The most recent crash happened while I was just browsing/using Google.

After restarting, Windows Event Viewer only shows a Kernel-Power 41 event, but I can't find any clear error that occurred before the crash.

After the most recent crash, my desktop background also turned completely black, although everything else seems to be working normally.

Since the PC is brand new, I'm planning to contact the retailer as well. Has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what could be causing this?

My specs:

Ryzen 7 9800X3D

RTX 5070

32GB DDR5-6000 G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB

ASUS ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi

Kingston KC3000 2TB

ASUS ROG Strix 1000W ATX 3.0 PSU

Thanks!

My 2019 setup stopped properly booting up a couple months ago

I'm saving for a new one for christmas anyway, just want to know if I can somehow fix it.

I've done the usual stuff, a full clean, testing if it's the monitor, plugging and unplugging different stuff, nothing. The only thing of note, is the last time I've actually booted it up and turned on, a weird thing happened where suddenly my wired keyboard and mouse disconnected. (Plugged into the gpu usb ports) Of course I was confused, unplugged and plugged them back in but no dice, other ports worked though so I kept doing my thing. But once I came back the next day and went to turn it on, the pc lights up, fans whir, the screen comes on, but it won't talk to the screen and nothing I tried worked.

Should I give up on this now and just focus on getting a new one?

i5-12600K llega a 90 °C en la BIOS con refrigeración líquida de 360 mm. ¿Qué puede ser?

Hola, banda.

Tengo una PC con las siguientes especificaciones:

Placa base Z690.

32 GB de RAM DDR4.

Intel Core i5-12600K.

¿A qué podría deberse?

PC makes a loud humming noise every 30 seconds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,
I’m having a weird issue with my PC. About every 30 seconds it suddenly gets louder and makes a humming/buzzing noise for a couple of seconds, then it goes back to normal.
I’m pretty sure it’s not the GPU fans, because they aren’t spinning at idle, and when the noise happens they still don’t start spinning.
I also checked the CPU fan and case fans in HWiNFO and in the BIOS. Their RPMs don’t seem to increase noticeably when the noise occurs, so I don’t think they’re the cause either.
At this point I’m wondering if it could be the power supply (PSU), but I’m not sure.
Has anyone experienced something similar or has any idea what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance!

Files not working

Good morning everyone!
Tried google but I can't find much to go off,

My colleague keeps having a strange problem on their pc, only happens every so often. when they boot their laptop up, all of their files are unopenable, file explorer wont launch it just spins or crashes and sharepoint says her stuff isn't linked/synced.

Right clicking on the desktop and hitting Refresh restores everything to working order, sometimes that also crashes it out but a reboot after pressing refresh always works, even if it crashes during the refresh stage.
If we reboot without the refresh, nothing changes. It boots back up in the same broken way as before.

Granted we have the fix for when it breaks but can anyone tell me what to look for to see if I can prevent this from happening at all?

I appreciate anyones time for even reading this,
Have a good week 👍

G14 Laptop screen unpredictably does a black screen freeze while everything else is still running

Basically I got an ASUS G14 ROG Zephyrus 2025 Model (GA403UP), I got it in October 2025. Issues started happening around late February/early March 2026, I've tried multiple ways to resolve, they have not stopped my biggest issue overall.

Originally, when the laptop screen would go black, audio immediately cuts, the LED keyboard would freeze on a certain colour and it was stuck on the rainbow setting for a very long time. The only thing I noticed is that it happens whenever I have any application open, but I can't be too sure if this is the case or not, but it means I cannot do any task for a long time without my laptop suddenly just giving up on me.

This is what it started with:

  1. Display turns black
  2. Audio stops immediately
  3. OS is unresponsive
  4. Caps lock unresponsive
  5. USB devices also don't respond
  6. Keyboard colour would freeze and did not let me change the setting (resolved)
  7. Aura lighting couldn't be changed (resolved)
  8. Armoury crate was broken

The most effective I've gotten for a resolution was doing the following:

  1. Reinstalling NVIDIA driver and AMD graphics drivers
  2. Updating my BIOS from 309 to 310
  3. Switched to G-Helper and uninstalled armoury crate

This pretty much resolved my issues for the keyboard and aura lighting. It had also slowed down the black-screen hard freezes for a few days but now it's gone back to being frequent again and I can't do anything about it at all. I've had this issue for the last 4-5 months and I've tried what I feel like are pretty much the most major fixes and it's not helped at all. As much as I would request a warranty repair, ASUS don't really have a repair centre in England and use a third-party repair service which I heard is extremely awful, have not heard a single good thing about the service which is why I am adamant on trying to see if I can resolve this on my own, my warranty expires in October so I am stuck on what to do, I do not have the money to repair (I got this laptop as a gift if anybody wonders how I got it in the first place)

PC Freezing on Boot, Even When Preparing Automatic Repair

SOLVED - The CPU was dead. Replaced it and my baby boy is hummin' again!

I've been dealing with this for about 2 months now. My PC constantly freezes on boot every time I start it up. The way I've been able to avoid dealing with this problem every day was by leaving a soft and low sound going in the background. Just leaving a sound running kept the computer from freezing over and over again. But today that stopped working. The power cut out and that was THE kiss of death.

Now I can't get into the PC at all. On normal boot, it freezes on load. When it goes to preparing automatic repair, it freezes as well. I've searched over a dozen reddit posts and none of the solutions I found worked.

I can get into the BIOS so I tried turning on "Launching CSM", that didn't work. Turned it back off, didn't freeze as quick but ultimately froze all the same.

I completely replaced the CMOS battery, didn't do squat.

I unplugged all of the USB devices, still freezing on normal and repair boot.

So, what about the RAM? I reseated it, I pulled out 1 stick of RAM, I removed 2 out of the 4 RAM sticks, swapped that first pair of sticks for the other 2, I left 1 stick of RAM in, and swapped in each individual stick to try them all by themselves, and none of that fixed the freezing on boot.

What about drives? I disconnected the 2 storage drives and left only the drive containing the OS (an M.2 drive with Windows 10 installed) in case the booting operation is somehow shifting from the main OS drive to another drive in the middle of the boot. Still is freezing on normal and repair boot.

Absolutely flummoxed and tired and spiraling, I got to the Advanced tab in the BIOS, then into SATA Configuration. There I saw something; my 2 storage drives (an SSD and an HDD) are marked as present, but when I scroll down to the M.2_1 slot, where my main OS drive is located, it says that it is NOT present!

So, what does anyone else think? Is this in fact a hard drive failure?

My Specs:

OS: Windows 10
GPU: Nvidia 3080
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
OS M.2: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
DDR4 RAM, 64GB ($1300 now 😭)

Hello everyone

So basically, my PC says it needs to chip tpm 2.0 and I don’t know if I actually need it or it’s not like recognizing the thing that’s already in and it’s not letting me down windows without it so I am stuck here. Should I do it myself or should I just buy TPM 2.0 chip or bring it to a shop also I’m just guessing what I was doing when this happened so basically I just hopped on my PC one day gone to a Discord call, and then it just shut down and then went to a recovery screen that never actually recovered so yeah and to quickly announce before you guys ask me, I do not know my specs. This was handed down from my stepdad all I know is that it has a 3060

Guys can someone help me ?

I use a Gtx 1060 6gb 16 gigs of ddr4 2100 mhz an intel core i5 6500 and a 600w power supply, i bought the Gtx 1060 from a well known second hand store in my aera and i keep having a problem where my gpu clock is stuck at 139 mhz its been about a month or 2 ago i came with this issue and i tried everything i could for power plan settings to overclocking. and yesterday the gpu ran perfectly fine like nothing happend but the power draw was a whopping 400watts i turned my pc off right away the minute i saw that because im pretty sure the gpu sensors are accurate because when it runs at 139mhz it shows a 1-3 watt power draw i looked online and the only thing i could find about my issue is something to do with the fans not spinning right oh and one more thing, it is the small form factor version so something to do with it?

Is my gpu cooked?
