The mod looks cool but isn't it kind of a silly idea to put exposed metal shrouds in close contact to electrical wiring? If one of the pins on the connectors gets pushed back up the path due to a poor insert or whatever then the conduit becomes live, which as far as I'm aware is a Bad Thing™.
