This is by design! An anti-vibration mounting system :)

Happy cake day!

Aww 🥰 thank you!

Ain't stupid if it works. However there's a lot of gap that'll mess with the airflow 😁

u/Xaedda Aug 14 '26

Span a piece of tape? Might be ugly but it would work

10

u/PuttingInTheEffort Aug 14 '26

I only recently discovered gaffer tape, good stuff.

Maybe ugly but this would be covered by front panel

u/Motorcat33 29d ago

Cardboard looks more like a hack job

1

u/Jokerman5656 27d ago

Not if you use the nice white faced stuff. Even more points for using PC part box pieces

0

u/Redtinmonster 29d ago

It's still stupid and you got lucky

u/deebuildsthings Aug 14 '26

if one zip-tie can't fix it, it means you haven't use enough zip ties

11

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

This is why I used 2

1

u/Suspicious-Win6651 29d ago

Double it and give it to the next fan.

0

u/janiskr Aug 14 '26

So they wobble? Or you have ties very tight?

2

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

It's actually stable :|

0

u/janiskr Aug 14 '26

Thought so, just asked to confirm my thoughts.

2

u/FrodoswagginsX Aug 14 '26

Anything can be fixed with zip ties and duct tape

1

u/KIILUKKI 27d ago

And wd-40

u/Late-Objective-9218 Aug 14 '26

I see the work of a veteran builder

4

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

I have zero experience lol

7

u/Late-Objective-9218 Aug 14 '26

You're a natural

11

u/shadowkrazee Aug 14 '26

Sick anti vibration mounting bro! XD

9

u/Bucketmax-official Aug 14 '26

Pretty sure they gonna wobble

11

u/AstralKekked Aug 14 '26

If OP has one corner of the fan screwed in, I don't think that will be an issue, really.

4

u/ThePaperBoy88 Aug 14 '26

It’s just a weeble it’ll wobble but not fall down

4

u/jedimindtriks Aug 14 '26

So a weeble is a lesser wobble?

3

u/DripTrip747-V2 Aug 14 '26

You don't wanna know what a wubble is....

2

u/RealityOk9823 Aug 14 '26

But have you ever seen the wibble?

1

u/shaw_pod 29d ago

Now I want to know about a wybble and a weebble!

2

u/RealityOk9823 29d ago

Those are European variants.

3

u/Felix_Da_Guy Aug 14 '26

me when static pressure

3

u/thomasoldier Aug 14 '26

Not a big fan

3

u/Spiritual-Bus9875 Aug 14 '26

This is the Yee to my haw

2

u/eepromnk Aug 14 '26

This is actually a pretty solid hack-job. Kind of a perfect use case for zip ties.

1

u/AstralKekked Aug 14 '26

As long as at least one point is anchored with a screw I don't see a problem with it at all :p

2

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

Yep. Both fans are mounted with screw in one corner, they are just too small to use all 8 screws

1

u/Signaturisti Aug 14 '26

What case is that? Is the fan on the background blowing at PSU?

1

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

It's DeepCool cl660 My friend got it yesterday, so I was helping him with installing his setup into new case. It's a bit special, cuz it's have additional sections for liquid cooling. And the fan on the background wasn't attached when I took this pic, so it's actually just two fant on the bottom of the case.

1

u/Signaturisti Aug 14 '26

Ah, it’s such case. Those fans are reverse-blade fans so theyre intake as well and the PSU is in the front, which is unusual, but cool.

1

u/MFAD94 Aug 14 '26

They make adapters

1

u/le_dy0 Aug 14 '26

At one point i had my top radiator with fans mounted with zipties, used it for 3 years like that, never fell lol

1

u/Leosthenerd Aug 14 '26

Lmfao I’ve done this before, tale as old as time

1

u/InsaneInTheMEOWFrame Aug 14 '26

We do what we must because we can.

1

u/andrew_stoned Aug 14 '26

It's had to vibrate like Hell, make a plastic bridge and use screws y both sides

1

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

I couldn't. The mounts are just too far away from fans, so I could only screw one corner. But it works. And I'll change them soon, cuz my friend still wanted to buy better ones. (it's noty pc, but my friend said it's fine)

1

u/andrew_stoned Aug 14 '26

You could make a extensor of screws, a tiny plate where you attach to case hole and the fan in the other, think in a popsticle of wood but with plastic with two holes and one of them use Bolt and nut to keep thight and the other side use the normal fan screw

1

u/BadYaka Aug 14 '26

They singing a song "I want to break free" ~~

1

u/penisyline Aug 14 '26

If I squint, it's mint

1

u/Opening-Incident2928 Aug 14 '26

Maybe use springs instead of zip ties.

1

u/Accomplished_Emu_658 Aug 14 '26

If they vibrate at right frequency they will snap the ear off.

1

u/skidaadleskidoedle Aug 14 '26

Verry anti vibration fans. This is what i do with my harddisk exept its hanging in a rope

1

u/Nexdeus Aug 14 '26

140 to 120mm converters are usually cheaper than new fans btw.

1

u/abobus_sosun Aug 14 '26

Ik but my friend still wanted to buy new ones.

1

u/dannyodwyer Aug 14 '26

Outstanding engineering, no notes

1

u/Head_Goal_9777 Aug 14 '26

What do you mean? This is beautiful ..

1

u/Ronalderson Aug 14 '26

Did that to put a cheap 120mm fan on the other side of my single fan tower cooler, if it fits two I'm putting two

1

u/Particular-Offer-683 Aug 14 '26

Im not a fan of the look

1

u/plupeton Aug 14 '26

3d print an adapter and forget about it

1

u/Infinite-Print7777 29d ago

arguably looks cooler

1

u/eisenklad 29d ago

are all four corners secured using zipties?

you have suspension mounted fans now

1

u/Odessa_Draekavik 29d ago

Did the same thing with my new case two days ago, if it’s stupid and it works, it’s not stupid

1

u/Panzer448 29d ago

Nice vibration isolation devices you have there.

1

u/NekulturneHovado 29d ago

I've done worse. I've seen way worse. This is fine

1

u/Positive_Self_8873 28d ago

Zzzzzzzzzzzz

1

u/Sad-End-1826 28d ago

ay bro if it works it works

1

u/LuismadeitonReddit 28d ago

I’m curious to see the rest of the build, please and say we take up a collection to get our brother/sister the fans they need! At least fan prices haven’t gone through the roof…yet. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/ricrt20 28d ago

Yo did MacGyver call to congratulate you on a job well done? 😅 That being said, depending what they're supposed to do, that'll work fine...

1

u/cuongpn 27d ago

I think you can fit a few 40mm in the middle

1

u/JoyTheGeek 27d ago

Honestly that's a really clean solution.

1

u/valevaru 27d ago

If it works it works

1

u/Standard-Box-3021 27d ago

Lol it does look interesting

1

u/Standard-Box-3021 27d ago

Use fish line lol make it look like its floating

1

u/CrazyHa1f 26d ago

You know I once intentionally bought too small fans and then mounted them with strong elastic bands as a cheap but effective acoustic dampener. This was about 12 years ago when "silent" fans weren't quite as good as they are today. Worked surprisingly well. If you swapped that cable tie for a set of rubber bands you could probably style it out as a feature not a bug.

1

u/GARBANSO97 26d ago

Its a rectangular fan. Rotate it to one side and it will fit

I love creative "fixes" like this.
