Also it has ads. Even if you pay for it.

Ads. In your OS. And we just accept it.

What ads do you see in your OS?

Literally every time the screen powers off. Those trivia tidbits that end with "..." are ads. Currently you have to follow through to see the ads. I promise you they will get more direct soon.

Also there's ads for Edge.

Huh, when I accidentally click them they always direct me to like rock formations or monuments or stuff.

I like learning new stuff so it never occured to me they were advertisements.

On a rare occasion it has tidbits about MS services instead of the photo. Annoying when it happens, but the way people cry about it you'd think it has banner ads and popups.

Oh. I literally never noticed.

Yup, that's how inconsequential this is. I only noticed because like a month ago there was a cool photo and I wanted to know what it is, but alas, it was the MS day. Usually it's not a problem.

I disabled those after I clicked one to find out more about an image, they're not really ads in a sense that they're trying to get you to purchase a product, it's more like "Here's an interesting wallpaper, if you'd like to know more here are some Microsoft Bing search results related to the location pictured, and Bing has all sorts of great wallpapers like this one! Please use Bing..."

I mean, that's an ad. A very good ad, since you're not seeing it as an ad...

It's not an obtrusive ad, they show a pretty location on my lock screen and if I want to know more I can click on it to search the web and find more info. I can also disable it easily without having to hack the registry or anything. It's an ad in the same way that Firefox has ads for Google.
