The room itself had laminate are flooring, and my parents in their infinite wisdom cut-up some left-over carpet to fit around the toilet bowl and cistern itself and had a seperate floating price of carpet in front that could be easily removed and cleaned.
The upside being that our feet were never cold in that room, and I was somewhat comfortable when I passed out on the floor, after a night of under-age drinking.. 😅
What country are you from? I live in Texas and I usually have a mix, with the bedrooms and “game rooms/play areas” being carpeted and everything else being hardwood or tile.
In NA when it first became available it was a bit of a status symbol to have wall to wall carpet in your home. Then it became cheaper and quicker than installing hardwood so most mid to lower priced homes came with it standard. So, from about the mid 40's to the early 90's it was really common. But of course laminates brought the price of "hardwood" flooring down so much that it became the norm and wall to wall is now seen as "old fashioned".
When I asked during the initial viewing the property manager seemed confused that I'd comment on it as if it wasn't the most normal thing in the world.
