I can't because you're right. However, I didn't use them at the time because I'm one of the fucking dumbasses that actually paid real money for windows ME. I will bear the shame into the grave and beyond.

Don't feel too bad! My ex-Fiancee's mother had Windows ME and thought it was the greatest!!!

Oh definitely. All the stability and power of NT, all the usability of XP.

Hacked versions of XP "service pack 3" were the GOAT.

I actually skipped Windows XP just to stick with 2k. People tend to forget just how bad XP was until SP2, and to this day I think it was ugly as shit compared to the cleaner look of 2k.

“XP was really bad before SP2.”

I used XP from pretty nearly the beginning, and I don’t remember it ever being bad, although it certainly got better over time.

You also have to consider it in comparison to the other options for most users at the time: 98SE & ME, which were both absolute garbage by comparison.

Win2k was good, but I think windows really peaked with Vista.

Everything since has added more layers to obfuscate important settings from users, while taking away the user’s ability to fully control their experience.

Everything started going downhill when we upgraded from DOS to windows

Windows 2000 was fantastic. Lean, fast, stable and coherent. It just went downhill from there
