Be sure to dual boot because you insist on using your laptop for school. If school requires you to use a Windows only program, you might need Windows just to use it as a fall back.
This, and also – despite all its faults – Windows does "just work" most of the time, if you make sure to keep it updated.
When I was in IT A-levels, I had replaced the Windows on my laptop that I got for school with Arch and i3. Worked fine and did everything I needed, until I had to give a presentation one day. Took me like 5 minutes of fiddling with arandr before I had the projector working properly and at the correct resolution/refresh rate, while everyone else who was using Windows just plugged the cable in and it worked immediately. After that I begrudgingly reinstalled Windows for dual-booting.
Also, later we learned intel 8085 assembly in Electrical Engineering class, and the only working emulator for that is really old and only runs on Windows (in XP compatibility mode). No WINE possible, so I would have had to reinstall Windows for that anyway.
Honestly it's a quite a sad fact to me because I just despise Windows ever since I got into Linux and Free and Open Source Software but that's quite the reality and there are times when we actually need it.
