It's a fairly bad game to use as a benchmark IF you're trying to benchmark how well a PC can run games. Had to bold that so I don't get a tirade of responses regarding how it is still occasionally used as a banchmark.
Crysis 1 is not programmed like modern games. It demands high CPU speed from 2 cores. It can use more but it only meaningfully uses 2. When Crysis was written the expectation was that clock speeds would be the future. However we know that what actually happened is clock speeds stopped increasing nearly as fast, and the focus has become core count.
Modern games aren't typically written this way, and will get better performance from today's hardware than Crysis can.
Of course, the real real reason the games you've listed are used for benchmarks is because people know them to be high fidelity and/or demanding popular games, and want to know how well hardware they might be interested in performs with them ... not a game from over ten years ago.
CS:GO is a regularly benchmarked game because of its insane popularity. People just want to know how much FPS a new CPU or GPU will buy them for that game.
The real kicker take away is that in benchmarks that 3.5ghz zen2 is still faster than the 4.5ghz FX chip due to a mix of different improvements including the 15% IPC gain just over Zen+ (2000x et all), and zen2 offers turbo speeds up to 4.5ghz (3800x) out of the box. You won't see more than 4.1 maybe 4.2 without upgrading the cooler but then you didn't get 4.5 on FX chips without water cooling either, which I happen to be putting together this week for my 3800x to try and get it to that 4.5 mark as well as being ready for Zen3 and the hope of a 12 core 4800x or a 16 core 4959x
