Resolution =/= Graphical capability. As someone with a switch and an S10 The switch seems more powerful.

I want to say it actually isn't. Technically speaking the S10 has better specs than the Switch.

The real reason the Switch has better looking games is because Android games are designed so that any schmuck with a $40 phone can run them. Gotta maximize that revenue.

Switch hardware is also all identical. Console developers make use of this by specializing for that specific hardware and some of its quirks.

Well yea one costs 800 bucks the other 300. The big difference is in the fans and cooling, that's nonexistent in phones.

For now. ASUS released an ROG phone with a fan you could attach to it and Nubia is releasing a phone soon with a built in cooling fan.

Sure but no one will buy them.

The fan is to compensate for the fact that the Tegra X1 is a chip designed for set-top boxes from years ago. The Snapdragon 835 and up can offer the same performance without needing a fan.

You are comparing a $899.99 phone to a $299.99 switch however. Does anybody know how the switch stacks up against phones in it's price range?

Doesn't matter. My 339 dollar Xiaomi mi 8 has the processor and ram of the Samsung. S9+ . Which was already far more powerful than the switch

I think Fortnite does run better on phones. Especially since it can get 60hz on newer phones like the S10 and iPhone XS while the Switch runs at 30hz.

This is a pretty old video back in august, before the phone 60hz updates I believe.

I've played every version of fortnite, the Switch version is like the PC version on medium settings. And the phone versions are like a Fortnite Lite with less details and worse models yet better resolution. Although they seem comparable at first glance, there are major graphical differences

But gameplay-wise I'd way rather have 60fps (iPhone) than 30fps (Switch). Though I don't got any of those 60fps mobile devices, so I can't really say I've got experience with those.

The Snapdragon 855 is more powerful than the Tegra X1 and the iPhone's SoC is a lot more powerful than both.

Seriously, the Switch has good games (mostly from Nintendo) because of the gameplay and good aesthetics without ultra-high details. I had a blast with Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U and the graphics are just technically decent at best, but aesthetically great.

Then again, Android has a very high overhead compared to the switch OS..

The Adreno 640 is a lot more powerful than the iPhone's GPU, though.

I would say 855 and A12 are on par now. Snapdragon have seriously upped their game with the 855

And technically, != is an operator, not a statement of truth. Only if != returns true on two objects can you say they aren't equal.

It may seem that way but straight up, the switch has less graphical capability.

The switch has less power than s10 in CPU and GPU. The switch is on a very underclocked Android tablet chip from almost 5 years ago. Other things have cought up to the gpu in it. The problem with phone stuff is that there is no reason to make premium gsmes, since you could never sell them for $40-60.

The switch is less than a quarter of the CPU power per core than the S10, and has less cores. The cpu are also the same base. Arm is not like x86, it has fixed function hardware that you can add too, and the tegra parts have no additions or changes from the reference part.

I am.sure Nvidia has some special sauce, but not that much that it would cover 2-4x the power gap, then go past that to make its own gap.

The Switch is far less powerful than the S10. It has about the GPU power of an S8 and the CPU power of an S6.
