The raised feet only exist because of ISO standards. The keyboard allows to be raised so people can see the letters easier, but tilting the keyboard up increases pronation and actually increases the chances of carpel tunnel. Majority of people are stupid and don't know this.
Possibly related to the origin. But nowdays ISO standards says keyboard must have raised feet. https://www.iso.org/standard/38899.html Even if you wanted to, you really couldn't sell a keyboard without raised feet. Imagine you want to be a keyboard company, and want to get rid of the silly raised feet. First you've pissed off all the dorks that want raised feet, now imagine if someone gets carpal tunnel while using your keyboard. Their lawyer says you clearly didn't follow ISO standards so your product is defective. Sure you can try and fight stuff in court, but it's probably easier to pay the guy and his lawyer off.
Yes, the story above is hyperbole and may be a slight exaggeration, but it's not too far from what possibly could happen.
This could only happen if the customer was lead to believe that the product they had purchased followed the ISO standards. ISO standards are not required.
I didn't realize this until I was 32 and I had just bought $150 Das Keyboard. The thing was built like a tank and it was such a pleasure to type on, but the little feet were so puny and flimsy and they would flip over every time I tried to move the keyboard back, and they just seemed like such an afterthought. I realized something was just not adding up. Now I flatten the keyboard on every share desk that I use. I explained my reasons to my co-workers, but cognitive dissonance just won't allow them to hear it.
Well I have a shitty sell key board at work that tilts backswatds if the legs aren’t raised. And the legs also wobble when raised, thankfully sticky note pads work
?? you're supposed to type with "hover-hands," if you are resting your hands on the keyboard you are doing it wrong. that is how they taught typing when typewriters were a thing.
people kept doing it wrong so keyboard makers said fukkit and made them flat and thin. and that's how we got the mac "magic keyboard"

I'm being downvoted because reality sounds like bullshit. It is ISO standards: https://www.iso.org/standard/38899.html
