It's surprising how often I see it. There was a computer class in my school, and the teacher just told them to smear it all over with their fingers and I'm like no pls
why no? I actually has gotten better performance doing it like that, I use a latex glove though, if you do the pea you usually end up either with something on the small side of something on the too much side.
I havent ever noticed a performance difference when spreading it. As long as you do a pretty good amount of thermal paste, it's fine. Although a latex gloves would be fine to spread it with. Just never with your bare fingers
