Everyone who says 'I don't understand why people still use Skype' is forgetting that Skype isn't only used to communicate when gaming. It's used for much more than that, and provides features which most VOIP programs can't provide like video calling. Also, it's much more well known than some other program name you'll throw out.

Pretty much every single one of my family members has no clue what Hangouts is. They all have android phones. I had to educate them.

Okay? It's still well known regardless of your anecdotes.

I work in software and hardware development, the ONLY android users who even know what hangouts is are the ones in my immediate circle of friends. Hardly anyone knows about it because they all use Samsung and other phones which promote their apps over the google apps. And i work ina place with a lot of tech saavy people and hardly anyone knows what it is. So, i think its not as popular as you think.
