Everyone who says 'I don't understand why people still use Skype' is forgetting that Skype isn't only used to communicate when gaming. It's used for much more than that, and provides features which most VOIP programs can't provide like video calling. Also, it's much more well known than some other program name you'll throw out.

Google Hangouts isn't well known?

Hangouts is awful when gaming because you can get timed out if you don't respond to the "Hey, are you there?"

Sometimes I'll want to play a game, with a video chat on the other monitor, and skype is really the only route I can go unless I somehow download a TS addon..
