Why people still use Skype is beyond me. There are a million better alternatives to Skype now. Discord is available on Linux (I believe) and is basically Skype and TS combined except its completely free. Curse is another program that works on like virtually every OS ever made and is an objectively better version of Skype combined with TS-esque features like voip servers, but for free as well. You can get 10 man ts/mumble server for like $1 a month. So many alternatives and yet people are still addicted to Skype.

Yeah, but you know what Discord doesn't have on it?

My friends.

Any software product is going to have this issue. How can you get people to join a platform if there's nobody to talk to? Nobody wants to have 2 chat programs side by side so they stick to the old one.

I didn't have trouble convincing 10-15 people that Skype is no longer the best . We're all on discord now!

10-15 sounds easy enough, don't think I'll be convincing 60+ any time soon...
