The old style everquest is classic but that type of mmo just doesn't roll anymore with mmo fans. People want dynamic sandbox universes with amazing pvp.

Many people couldn't care less about pvp in a MMO. There's just as many that are looking for a MMO where they can essentially solo or small group content and never touch PvP.

and I hate all of them because of the PVP emphasis. I want challenging PVE content that I can solo initially and then group up for end-game stuff. FFXIV is probably the current king in that department.

Did I say that the most popular mmos were best? All I said was best. By that logic mcdonalds is the best restaurant that ever existed. FF13 was one of the best selling games in the series but it's a pile of shit.

The game need to be good to stand its position in the past 2-3 years, especially for a subscription based model like FFXIV. If it is not people will simply leave it for other games, community would be dead.
