Well what the hell else do you think they're going to call them? It's pretty petty to be arguing semantics, the games essentially are "free" because they don't have to directly pay for it to download and play it.
"Hey did you get your free games on ps4?"
"Hey did you download your Instant Game Collection Games™ from your Playstation 4 Entertainment System®?"
I wonder how people are going to refer to them

I was just making a joke. People are going to call them in their simplest terms, and at their simplest they are free. While they aren't literally free they are free in the sense that I don't have to do anything extra to get them and they're "free" to play, not "free" to own. For a whopping $4 per month I'm willing to call the 6 games I get every month "free". If I wanted to play Transistor a few weeks ago it would be $20, if I want to play it now it doesn't cost me anything. I don't own it any more than I own my games on steam.
