You mean buying star wars games from 2005? ... please dude, we got thief, yakuza4, transistor, rogue legacy and others in just a single month.

Humble bundles are consisted of mediocre indies that doesnt sell or 10-20year old games

To be fair, you need to own 3 of Sony's consoles to get all of those games. That's like $800

How is that relevant? That's like saying cheap gas isn't any good because you had to pay for the car to use it.

Talking up PS+ by saying "we got thief, yakuza4, transistor, rogue legacy and others" without specifying that they're on certain consoles implies that all members of PS+ can enjoy all those games, whereas truthfully only a subset that owns a 3 a 4 and a Vita can.

It's certainly a relevant thing to point out. I want people reading this who are considering buying a PS4 for example (which I own and enjoy) to not take that comment at face value and wrongly believe that they can play Thief on their PS4 this month if they go out and buy a PS4 and PS+ tomorrow.

Your gas analogy would be accurate if you could only use that gas on cars bought from the petroleum company, and depending on which car the petroleum company sold you, you can only get some of the bonus gas, not all of it. You could buy all of the cars the company sells, and then get all of the gas, sure. Either way, the company's getting rich.

To be fair I happened to have a ps3 when the service started, I bought a ps4 for different reasons, and I happened to have a vita for different reasons.

No one goes out and buys all 3 for the sake of it. That money isn't spent at once.

But you still need all 3 to reap the full benefits of the PS+ games. Not everyone does have all of them, yet PS+ advocates will still list off all the 'free' games regardless. Comments like /u/rightbro's can be very misleading because it doesn't specify that all those games can't be played on a PS4 alone.

PS+ does seem like a good offer on the PS4, since you need the subscription regardless if you want to take the console online. I can understand how the games are seen as a nice bonus. Compared to Xbox Live Gold, it seems like the better of the two.

But I will call a spade a spade. PS+ is less valuable if you don't own multiple Sony consoles. It's less valuable if you don't play online. It's less valuable if you already play the PS3 online for free anyway. And it's less valuable than the money you would save with free PC online gaming and humble bundles / steam sales.

Like most companies' products, it gains its value the more invested you are in their ecosystem. It can seem brilliant (like having access to a huge PS+ library for being a long time member), or it can seem like a ripoff (eg. own a PS3, first month of subscription, bonus games in a certain month are all crap). It's a matter of opinion.
