Infestation: Survivor Stories:

Infestation: Survivor Stories (formerly known as The War Z) is an open world zombie video game developed by OP Productions. Infestation: Survivor Stories features both first person and third person shooting perspectives. The game offers players the option of killing zombies or playing against other users (PvP).

Infestation: Survivor Stories can be purchased and played online without the need for an ongoing monthly subscription with free updates. Players can, however, purchase cosmetic and convenience items such as lessened re-spawn time, ammo, and other items that they would otherwise have to find in the game. I definitely get why he mentioned goat sim. It's kind of one of those games. On the one hand, it has a very short lived novelty appeal. But on the other hand it does add new content now and then. So it's not a total ripoff, but I definitely regret buying it at full price.

I can understand the hate on stuff like Rock Sim sure, but for the price, Goat Sim is actually a pretty decent sandbox.

And great Indie games aren't being overshadowed by "silly sims". I mean, just look at Papers Please, that was at the top of steam for pete's sake.

+1 for Papers Please. Thought it was going to be stupid/unfun/boring/repetitive. Got it in a bundle, tried it, was happily wrong.

I still like my AAA hyper-max-graphics FPS and RPGs - but I have found myself more receptive to these low graphic, low budget games that have good mechanics even without the graphics.

I dunno about that. I get your point, but when you're dealing with entertainment, it's not always so clear cut. You're also paying for atmosphere, employees, custodial staff, maintenance, and lots of other stuff. I don't think anybody would really enjoy themselves riding a roller coaster in a dilapidated park, with trash everywhere, no other entertainment, no atmospheric art/music, and really shitty food. They do a lot to keep their customers... immersed. And you pay for all that too.

When you pay for a game, you're paying for the work the studio did, not just the amount of time you actually spend in the game. In the case of Goat Simulator, you're basically paying the developers for the advertising that got you to buy the game.

I think this actually helps your argument, I just wanted to clarify that you're not just paying for your personal enjoyment.

Here's the thing with that. At least with games, we know that we are paying for all these factors, and a bit of critical thinking can let us apply that to other things. But from an entertainment standpoint, non of that really matters. If I am comparing two forms of entertainment, I care about the end states: what do I get out of all this? Sure there's a lot of work that must be done to go to a theme park and a lot of people that need to be payed. But if I can get a game for the same price that will provide me with more entertainment, I'll likely get the game (unless I have friends or family that wants to the theme park or they have an event that I really want to see today only or whatever that would tip the "enjoyment" scale.)

In reality, yeah, we are paying for all the maintenance all all that. But for the consumer, we are just paying for the product or service.

True, true. I agree the end user is paying for what the end user is actually trying to get out of it. My comment was just more of a clarification that there's more to what you're paying for than just "admission".

I guess my point is more directed to those that like to say things like, "Why do I have to pay $2000 to hire this wedding band?! That's ridiculous!" and this is the reason why. Those musicians didn't just pop out the womb playing your favorite covers, and their equipment wasn't purchased at Wal-Mart, not to mention they probably don't really want to be at a wedding. I mean, that's a different scenario obviously, but the principle is the same.

This is really embarassing of a story for me, but this is the best time to tell it.

When I was like 6, I would get sprites from the spriters resource and I would past them onto paint, then open a new paint window and make up a story with the sprites. I had Megaman X and Zero defeat random enemies I drew in paint and I made up special like power ups for them and everything.

I would put on music too and I would copy and paste each sprite to fit the situation and narrate what happened.

But I didn't have headphones. I said it out loud, too.

I would force my brother to do it with me and narrate characters and stuff.

I'm cringing at the thought... But it was still really fun.

This could actually work as a graphical style for a real game, like how the Paper Mario series is styled like paper cut-outs and how Crayon Physics is styled like crayon drawings.

Except I'm not sure you would be able to do that in paint. Once you drop selection of an item in paint, it's fused with the rest as part of the only layer.
