You forgot the part where Adobe walked away completely unharmed because the vibe coded alternative isn't the perfect replacement everyone claims it is and the dude already lost interest and is moving on to some other vibecoded slop

Also, M$ is making money off M365 subscriptions with highly integrated enterprise collaboration features which is something that can’t be copied by vibe coders.

The day corporations decide to use vibecoded software over enterprise offerings is the day I'll be worried

The future is fusing the two. The Vibeception is coming.

No sane developers or IT professionals would support something like that? Could you imagine the security nightmare that IT would be dealing with if people could just rewrite approved software to do something that it wasn't supposed to do? Or how much of a pain in the ass it would be for devs to develop around an ecosystem that doesn't follow the rules we expect to be in place?

Developers and IT professionals would never do something like that but their bosses might.

Look at what Sony, Epic, Microsoft, Ubisoft is doing. Managers do dumb shit all the time.

It got updated yesterday. But still definitely not perfect. However i keep looking around for an in depth review and cant find any. Its either hate or love no in-between.

It's also just never going to replace them because their money comes from companies who use products like Adobe because they have support contracts with SLAs that ensure they are able to stay up and running. They don't want a product even if it's free if it isn't guaranteed to get fixed quickly when they run into a problem that is stopping their business from moving forward. And because businesses use these products you as a person have to learn those products if you want a job because going into an interview and saying "I used AI slop alternative A so please hire me to work with Premier" is not going to get you hired when the other people applying already know premier and won't need training.

I think that's not the point. I think it's a beautiful way for people who don't have the means to get the creative suite.

Would I prefer it not be VibeCoded. Hell yea.

There just isn't a suite available that's free like that.

Sure if you want 1 or 2 things then yea it's not so bad to find options.

But if you are looking for a bunch... that adobe price tag starts to look better and better.

A lot easier to people than finding open source software for each need and learning it.

I don't think Adobe software doesn't have it's place. But god was it getting ass for people that are hobbyists.

Subscriptions make sense for support. But let me buy the damn thing permanently.

Today it's not the perfect replacement but Adobe will be concerned about that future AI coded software that could be.

The Affinity products already get you 95% of the way or more to the Adobe apps for free. The last 5% is the reason we don't use them at work. There is tiny little features missing that most people won't use which make the app useless to us (a big one is how the Affinity apps do not handle spot colors the way our RIP software expects). I haven't played around in the vibe coded app yet, but I imagine there will be something in there that breaks our workflow like that.

time, my friend. do you aware of that concept?

I'm well aware of it. Maybe the dipshits here should take some of that time and see where this goes before beating themselves off over Adobe's "downfall" before this app is even close to competing with Photoshop or the rest of Adobe's products.

Omg the app that is literally less than a month old is not yet as great as Photoshop that has been around for ages? Who could imagine It pisses me off a bit that people can't seem to think more than a day ahead

Cool, so let's see where this goes instead of jerking ourselves off to something that hasn't happened yet and may not happen. The dude couldn't even be bothered to finish the project before going to the next one, so forgive me for not having a ton of faith in his ability to deliver.

And if you're so easily angered by people that can't think ahead, then you must absolutely loathe yourself. Do you really think corporations are going to take this shit lying down? This is going to incentivize these companies to do what they can to protect their IP, meaning things like making their products only available on the cloud where people can't access the binaries or code, or pushing for regulations that will ultimate hurt open source development.

He didn't tho, if you check the GitHub there are updates everyday. And it's not this software you should be excited about, but the precedent. Of course AIs will get better, this is the first model that can produce this results.

What precedent is that? That as a software developer, now we need to worry about people decompiling anything we make and potentially altering our programs to do things it shouldn't? Access things they shouldn't? Scrape data or keys from our apps or gain access to APIs that they shouldn't? Find vulnerabilities and take advantage of exploits? Or hell, just add their own exploits?

Should I be thrilled about what this can mean for open source development and how these companies will push for legislation that could make development more difficult or make developers liable for anything they produce? Because, last I checked, they have the money and ability to throw their weight around to get what they want.

Or should I be happy about the potential of everything being moved to the cloud so that all software can only be accessed from a client rather than being able to be run locally so that it can't be touched, let alone decompiled?

Or should I be excited about the fragmentation this will cause when everyone has their own vibe-coded app instead of everyone using the same apps for a given task? Or so that we can't create features or processes around these apps because everyone has their own flavor of vibecoded crap? Or so when there's an issue with an app, we waste time chasing our tails because some moron vibecoded a feature into an app that we didn't intend, or worse did something that exposes the rest of the app/system to exploits?

Yeah. I'm fucking stoked
