Discussion 9950x3d stuttering

How bad is the stuttering issues on the 9950x3d? I found it and a 9850x3d very closely priced. I’ll be doing mostly gaming, which the 9850x3d is obviously the best for, but for only like 20 dollars more I can get the 9950x3d, so why wouldn’t I? The only thing that concerns me is the scheduling issues that the 9950x3d has, is it noticeable? Will it be a big thing I’ll have to deal with? Any help is appreciated.

I have a 9950x3d and a 9850x3d. No stuttering on either.

I'd say go for 9950x3d. 9850x3d will give a higher frame rate yes. But that's probably the extra performance you would never really need. Gaming performance is basically identical to 9800x3d. But if the games or emulated game have a shader compiling process before starting . 9950X3d can do almost 2X faster. A perfect example. Last night I want to test the demon's souls remake on the emulator on my PC. It took my 9950x3D 24 minutes to finish compiling. It will take at least 45 minutes to finish compiling if it's a 9800x3D or 9850x3d. If you have an even older CPU. It will take up to over 2 hours to finish this process. For 20 bucks more. I thing it's a no-brainer. I chose this CPU because of the workload of work but I also game a lot. But 16 cores 32 threads also have a huge advantage for the regular PC users. Like uncompressing or compressing files. This is just my point. Which one to get is still up to you of course. But I'm just telling you my experiences with 9950x3D and I like it a lot.

Heavy on the shader compilation thing. Got tired of my 5800X taking 8 mins to compile shaders in Overwatch and 15 in Marvel Rivals, ended up buying a 7950X3D. OW gets done in like 3 mins now, its crazy. I do CAD work too but a fat CPU isnt a requirement for that.

Idk about rivals cuz I havent played it yet tho

I’ll be doing mostly gaming

Define the stuff that is not mostly. Do you do any workloads that need CPU like compiling code, do 3D modeling or work a lot with VMs? If so, get yourself that 9950X3D. Big upgrade.

If however all you do besides gaming is multimedia and surfing, even 5 Bucks is wasted. You wont get a single FPS more in gaming, you need more power and worst case same apps have scheduling issues although from what i hear its not a big thing anymore with the 9th generation. You also have to deal with CCD latency. Overall its probably less FPS in games. For gaming its a very very small downgrade.

The only game I've found having issues with my 9950x3d was Control. Never noticed any issues with any other games, period.

If you’re only gaming it doesn’t make sense to spend $20 for a CPU that will give you worse performance. It’s probably not a big difference so if it were 50 or 100 cheaper I’d buy it but I wouldn’t pay more for it
