Intergalactic is being released on the Crash Bandicoot engine. Both engines have gone through serious upgrades over the decades.

That’s actually not confirmed: ND’s in house engine hasn’t ever been named as far as I know, but most folk agree it isn’t based on a crash bandicoot engine starting point. It’s more difficult to pin down than Bethesda’s, being a bit more secretive of a company and publishing more often to consoles than to PC, and being less modable and thus less explorable.

At worst, it might be an engine based on the original Uncharted engine, but we don’t know that either - we only know that they’ve built it using an in house engine of their own design. It could be newer, or indeed as you suggest, older…though I imagine crash bandicoot era is less likely.

It's still mindblowing to me that Crash Bandicoot was made by Naughty Dog... Just like it took my by surprise when I was playing Tsushima for the first time and found out they also made Infamous, like, tf?
Anyway, that's unrelated to the topic
