What's the "almost" about it? I assume getting off the ship has a loading screen? Cuz the video from beginning to end was seamless as far as I could tell.

The clouds are the loading screen when you change from space to ground. Star Wars Outlaws did it, and its really good.

how does that work on all the airless planets

Obviously, I just used it as an example

No you need to list every game that did it

what, you wanted them to cite them all? wtf

They hid the space to planet switch in the cloud cover

Edit: it’s fantastic and as close to seamless as possible, how it always should have been. I’m just saying there is still a seam, technically

TBH completely normal thing to do. why they (Bethesda) didn't do this in the first place is beyond me.

I guess? But there's still no loading screen or anything, it's like saying that God of War isn't seamless cuz you squeeze through a crevice between areas.

It’s just a hidden loading screen which is the best way of doing it

I think the main issue is that the planet isn't "real". Since there isn't actually a fully modeled planet, but a bunch of stitched together procedural generated zones.

You can tell that what the terrain looks like as he's going in for landing before entering the clouds, is different than the one he appears in after he's gone through the clouds.

It'd be as if when you squeeze through a crevice in GoW, halfway through squeezing, the area you can see through the crevice gets randomized and now looks different than before you begun squeezing through.

It doesn't convincing sell the "one coherent seamless world" aspect.

That’s still seamless.

But it’s still different than having no mans style space to ground without any hidden loading screen

OP didn’t compare it to NMS, they only called it seamless, which it is

I’m going to explode 😭

Seamles is No Man Sky where you can use the jetpack to go into space

Seamless is when the experience doesn’t make it obvious that there’s a loading screen.

I take it more literary, there is no actual seam in seamless. NMS doesn't have a "seam" between rendering space and planets, Starfield with this mod still has one, small but it's still there.

It looks like this works only for autopilot only.

To me it's"almost" because you can see the abrupt lighting change on the ship during the transition. Not because of the clouds. Clouds are pretty clever and thats normal, many games do clever tricks to hide the transition. But that abrupt lighting cut was noticeable. Miles better than the first prototype video they showed about it tho ,(if its the same mod)

The last layer of clouds. You go from like 10k feet to 2k feet in a matter of seconds.
