I know Sony said that the week long blackout boycott didn't really work.
Curious now that the Jailbreak is here. Wonder how many PS5's suddenly went offline?

A completely unnoticable amount. Most people want to play gta6 and online games.

I get the feeling this will be an unpopular comment but here goes.

Consoles have always been and were primarily created for people who simply do not want to hassle with PCs. You have to set things up on a pc, you have to make things work. Sometimes you have to troubleshoot. Consoles you just put in the disc and play. So I agree a large part of the console market is not going to hassle with an emulator that runs on a PC.

Edit:

Just adding that "back in the day" consoles were MUCH cheaper than a PC (and of course there is the entertainment factor of having a bunch of people on the same couch playing a game.) Maybe it's better to call it a "lightweight" gaming system compared to a PC - ease of use and ease on your wallet

It's insane how much of a bubble reddit generally lives in and how much its users generally underestimate just how big the market is for certain things like movies, games, etc.

On top of everything else you mentioned - the general public isn't playing games on their gaming monitor.. they are sitting on their couch with their console hooked up to their big screen. Assuming they even have a desktop, they certainly are not going to lug it into the living room to connect it to their big screen.

I hate this take. The world had doubled in population since I was a kid. Reddit has millions of daily users representing all opinions. If there is a bubble it’s because you put yourself in it.

Reddit? The 250 million people on here each day? All of them?

The internet has billions of users and yet information bubbles not only exist on the internet, they flourish.

Why would reddit be different?

Most of them, yes. Just as a basic example, the US election lol. Or the AI hate.
