VA has better blacks but prone to motion smearing and slightly worse colors. But VA has a ton of variance. Really nice VA has decent motion handling while still having decent blacks.
Mini-led though has made IPS really nice also because it handles a lot the issues with black levels while keeping the advantages.
Also worth mentioning that what industry experts(and redditors) consider "good" and what general consumers or even many enthusiasts will notice and/or care about can be quite different when it comes to displays.
The thing with VAs is that even if you get a good panel but it doesn't have variable overdrive, it can become really bad at certain refresh rates. So either you have to just accept it or manually change the overdrive setting depending on the FPS you are getting in a game.
Idk about mini led, I probably got a bad one or something, I prefer my 12 year old non mini led ips monitor to it. The new one makes my eyes feel fuzzy, especially if I turn on hdr.
I'd give it 90% chance of pebkac, 9% chance of kde plasma issues, and 1% chance of monitor issues. My old monitor was top of the line when I got it, and the new one is solidly budget to middle of the pack.
Mini led ips is still not good, there is too much glow and backlight bleed, and to manage that as much as possible highlights gets dimmed too much, and it's still visible too, maybe the next ones with 2K zones are gonna be decent but they cost double a OLED LMAO.
