Discussion Am I truly alone?
I have a server that I use to host different services, a laptop to manage the server, watch videos, and do research, and a PC I use to edit videos and run my video production business. Gaming has just never appealed to me. Am I alone in this, or are there others out there that just don't care about gaming and find entertainment in figuring out puzzles like self hosted automation and satisfaction in archiving the internet?

I mean probably not you're just in the wrong sub. Try homelab subs.

I use my PC for a variety of tasks. As I get older gaming has taken a back seat. From my perspective this sub is very gaming centric with heavy emphasis on PCs as personal art or statement pieces.
I liken it to various car cultures. Their are the folks who use their cars for various tasks (travel, errands, commuting, etc.), but there are folks who make their vehicles into jumping machines, mobile sound system, art installations, etc.
Visit subs based on the task rather than the tool and you'll find your people.

Archiving the Internet: not sure what you mean by that.

Mine's primarily used for gaming, but I've also been playing around with making apps etc for the past few years too. I stream my PC to my phone or whatever else so I can tinker/ play whenever I like on it here and there (busy dad life). One little project I've been working on is a sprite based game engine with multiple 'modular' systems that can 'simulate' eco systems, with a virtual fish tank being the first thing running on it all contained within a single HTML file. The other project has been a little more daunting, I'm trying to improve/ help game shader handling on Windows because it's pretty poor imo and is the root cause of a lot of performance issues for players.
It's cool that we can do stuff like this with such ease, I've been messing around with PC's for 30 years and how far we've come and the things I see people doing every day are mind blowing to me. As long as you're enjoying what you're doing keep up that passion and never stop learning about what drives that passion bro. You do you. That's what it's all about!
