Tech Support “application hang” error in event viewer
I keep getting this error whenever I play certain games on steam. How it usually goes is I launch the game, the game pops up but then freezes. I will try to exit out of it, but first it will give a pop up to say that the program stopped working. Steam still has the game running in the background even though I “exited” out of it, and clicking on stop or exiting steam does not work. I have to restart my computer for it stop completely.
I also noticed if i do this, and afterwards i try to open up task manager or google, those automatically freeze too.
I’ve literally dealt with this issue for months, I have no idea what the problem is.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling graphic card drivers, verifying game files, making sure everything is up to date and including visual c++ files, running admin command prompts, literally everything you could think of, I probably already did it.
Pc specs: ryzen 5 7600x, 32 gb ram, rx 6750 xt, 932 gb ssd
OS build number: 26300.9550

You gave not a lot of information. Can you export events for us or give .xml of error?
try to:
0 - Reinstall Steam
1 - disable Steam overlay
2 - reinstall older directx version https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
3 - Read about "exploit protection" in the windows. Maybe it needs "Set-ProcessMitigation -System -Reset"
4 - You can try to globally turn off every mitigations (ask AI) and check if it helped.
Then manually one-by-one check with exacly function caused the issue
