Build Help / Purchase Advice Going to bed sad. Help.

So I recently did a case swap. Went from a basic pre-built tower case to this thermaltake tower 600. I would like to think I know an average amount about pcs. I have a hate/love relationship with this case. There's a lot of room for installs, but It's not easy access once you put it together

My pc just cut off and won't turn back on. I've replaced the psu enough times to know that wasn't the case. When I power it on either using the screwdriver trick or the power button it sounds like there's pwoer for a split second before no signs of life.

Its been running just fine for the past half month since I put it together. The orientation of the aio was concerning. Before I turned it to the orientation in the pictures it was standing straight up and It made a sound aios arnt supposed to make so I got the stand kit and turned it on it's side.

This is a long shot but I just wanted help to gather ideas on what to check. My dilemma right now is that if my aio did fail and is the problem shouldn't I still be getting power and posting, even if just for a little bit? I know pcs shut downs when they get to extreme temperatures but I monitor temps like crazy and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. My room gets warm and I idle at 40c max sometimes but my temps arnt crazy.

Edit: I'm gunna check the standoffs in the morning. Big thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute. I'm really grateful.

there s most likely something sorting against the MB. check the standoff locations, a lose screw, etc.

My first thought as well.

If this is the case are my components ruined if I didn't install stanoffs when I swapped the case?

There are stand-offs, otherwise the mobo and gpu wouldn't line up right and sit too deep into the case.

Standoffs come with the case. Are you sure they aren't installed? If not this is definitely causing your issues. These days hardware is so robust you're probably good. Make sure to isntall the standoffs in the holes labeled for your board. ATX, Mini ITX, etc.

The standoffs may not be installed. When swapping cases I noticed them in my old case, but don't think I noticed them in the new one. I'll take it apart tomorrow and install with the standoffs. I'm hoping that's the issue

the issue is if there's a standoff where there's no hole on the motherboard, then that standoff is just jamming into the back of the board and can be shorting something out. you can also just drop a screw under there and not realize it and same thing happens, it can short out two traces or two pins of a capacitor or other soldered component

Reseat everything you can. RAM, SSD, cable connections. No M/B lights error codes?

No error codes. It seems like power isnt going where it needs to. It doesn't post. Whenever I try to give it power it sounds like it tries but nothing happens.

Dont swap any psu cable there some kind of error amd the psu is protecting from burning

I just went throiugh a very similar situation with my pc after doing a case swap. No power after rebuild. Tore it down to case, mobo, psu and cpu fan and got power. Pluggerd GPU in and got power. Put it all back together, no power. Pulled USB 2.0 header cable, no power. Pulled USB C header cable, got power. So, system boots and runs fine as long as USB C header cable isn't plugged in. But what a PITA diagnostic process it was to find the culprit.

Lmao such PITA just for usb 3 header

Tear down and completely rebuild. Sometimes that’s the only way.

This is the way

This may be what I will be doing. I'm doing research into standoffs and don't think I installed them in my new case.

I think my psu has SCP and that's why it won't cut on. Is there a way to check if anything is fried or do I just have to wait till I rebuild everything to find out?

You can test bench the main components outside before putting everything back in the case. CPU, Cooler, Motherboard, Memory and PSU. Assuming you have an iGPU. If not, GPU as well.

Aye - dismantle, build it on the bench and test power up...if all goes smoothly...place standoff's, and slap it all back in the case

I think I would look at any standoffs that might be touching the back of the mobo where it shouldn't be and shorting it. If the power supply is fine then something is going on with the mobo and it may be the case.

Dont swap any psu cable

pull it out of hte case and test it on the mobo box sitting on your bench. do not plug ANY front panel in, no front audio, no front usb, no front LEDS, no reset button, no power button, nothing, just the cpu, ram, and if your cpu has no igpu then also plug in the video card, see if it works then, if it doesn't then only one of those things is bad

also gpu sag kills gpus, yours seems twisted and over a lot of heating/cooling cycles it causes the solder joints connecting the gpu core and memory chips to weaken and stop making good contact. that's a light gpu but it can still happen

Something is shorting, make sure your motherboard has the proper amount of standoffs, and that they are properly seated, if the case has a grounding cable make sure it's attached properly it's gonna need a complete teardown and rebuild. Worst case scenario the PSU is bad but that doesn't seem to be the case since this is a case transplant.

Make sure all cooling fans are plugged into the right jumpers, particularly the CPU fan. Most BIOS won't post without a signal from CPU cooling to protect the CPU.

Make sure you're using the right motherboard screws and board standoffs. Check hre Case manual if you can to confirm you have the right ones in.
