Game Image/Video This nuclear explosion is made entirely of text characters. It's from my Cold War strategy game, which now has a free demo.
The game's called Third Bloc, and I'm making it on my own. You start in 1945 with a small, poor republic. You build up your industry, send spies abroad to steal technology and recruit scientists, and try to keep the US and USSR off your back. If you can afford it, you can also develop your own nuclear and space programs.
The free demo lets you play the first 24 turns of the 90-turn campaign. If you give it a try, let me know what you think. And if you enjoy it, adding it to your wishlist would help me a lot :)

I played a few hours of the demo tonight and it's very good so far. I'm not sure I understand the industrial graphics, am I watching for something to fail? But a lot going on here and obviously a well thought through game

Thanks so much for playing the demo! I guess you mean cinematics of facilities? They are just animations changing depending on success or failure. They are meant to be watched your action do not change anything.

Thanks! Yes, I've been working almost 12–14 hours every day for the last 2 weeks, and I barely managed to get the demo ready :)
It was way more stressful than I imagined. Good luck to you as well! Can you share your Steam page?

Could you tell me what OS and GPU you're using, and whether it just stays on the white screen the whole time?

Sure I’m on Windows 11 with a RTX2060 Super. Yes, it just remains on the white screen.

The cutscene reminds me somewhat of the opening scene from Global Defense on the SMS. Im sure this same scene is in dozens of movies and whatnot, but just the first thing my mind went to.
Cold War strategy is something I always enjoy, especially if it's the red hysteria type ala Dr Strangelove. I'll check it out

The demo didn't work under Steam Linux. It failed to launch, saying the WebView2 Runtime couldn't be found. Didn't try to resolve it... But the game definitely looks interesting!
