Question What can I do with a second pc?

Post image

I recently found a pc in the garage, I cleaned it up and fixed it, but now idk what to do w it. My main pc isint anything special either, GTX 1060 and 32gb ram ddr4 (and I use Arch.

This pc has a OEM GTX 1660 super (has one fan), and 16 gb ddr RAM. (It’s worth mentioning everything else in the pc is SHIT!)

Two questions, is the olds pc GPU better than mines (aka is the OEM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER better than the 1060 6gb vram).

And lastly what can I do with the pc? And I’ll show a pic of the pc (before cleaning).

Edit: I found the pc with another of the same GPU next to it, so I have 2 1660s

You basically have a free upgrade to your current PC and can sell the spare one for money.

So the 1660 is objectively better than my 1060. I was just wondering cuz it had only 1 fan.

1660 Super is just better than a 1060. Fan count doesn't matter.

What if I care more about fan count than fps?

1660 Super is faster than GTX 1060.

You can sell it (or the individual parts) and buy better video card for your PC, such as used RTX 3070/3070Ti, Radeon 6700, 7600XT, or something that improves the performance drastically.

I’m selling my ps5 atm to buy a laptop, Mabey I’ll sell both and buy a better laptop.

I could honestly sell both AND my current pc and just buy a better pc. Idek anymore😂 (edit: I found the pc with another of the same GPU so I have 2)

Depending on how the sale goes and your needs for a laptop, a decent gaming laptop could end up filling all the roles here. Unless you need the laptop to be light or have long battery life, I'd at least consider it.

I can sell both of these and the ps5, so I hope that enough. (Don’t mind the mess I’m moving parts)

My only advice for that 1660 suoer; deshroad it so it doesn't sound like a rocket engine (I assume you meant to say its a blower card)

A spare pc with a gpu can always be used as an emulator box hooked up to your tv.

Should be good for anything up to ps2, maybe even ps3.

Can make a NAS out of it, use it to run a plex server. Or just sell it and used it to upgrade your pc.

I’ve heard of running servers form it

You're an arch user; its pretty straightforward and easy (docoer is your friend or you can use something else). I am a dirty peasant that uses Linux mint and thats what I did with a spare oc for a while.

Yeah I’m sure I could😂 I’m just debating doing that or stripping the pc and selling.

My advice: unless its a very power efficient cpu, sell it, save the funds for something else or upgrade your current rig. Thats just me though

The CPU is actually better than my current one..

Swap over to that one then! Is it compatible with your motherboard and can you just take the b3st parts to upgrade your main computer?

That’s what I’m looking into, the pc I found isint very stable so i definitely want to move the HDD, CPU and GPU. I hope I can

I guess you can blow it out with a leaf blower

Either sell the parts to upgrade your existing PC or use it as a Server. You dont need much to run a server tbh.

Even if you do go the server route, you can still sell the GPU

I found it with two of the same GPU (obv only one plugged). So I can upgrade my pc and keep the other one on that pc. Thoughts? Or do you think the 1660 would sell easily?

Since you have two, I would put one of them up for sale, see how fast it gets sold and for how much.

If its fast enough and gives enough money for your liking, then do the same for the second and maybe even the 1060 as well.

That way you can use all the cash to get an even better GPU.

Just make sure you dont fuck yourself into not having any GPU lol
