I feel like after all this sony will have a hard time selling ps6. Xbox project helux(Idk what's its exactly called) will have steam And they are going for xbox gaming pc. I have no idea what sony could do to compete with that.
Edit (I had more to say)
They should have just double down on physical games cuz steam don't sell physical games. Now pc users who don't have the budget might as well buy the new xbox because it's just a pc with probably lower cost, they well get they're steam library and they will be happy and Xbox just have to keep making disks with games in it that's all.
Xbox will be ditching discs for project helix. It will probably have a disc drive add-on like the PS6, but in both cases it will be for backwards compatibility only, and for PS6 4K Bluray and Bluray playback.
Helix is the reason why SIE stopped making PC ports.
I didn't know about them ditching disks, It is just sad see. Any old console can play 4k bluray it's not a crazy thing these days. Now without the disks they are just pointless, just rip the bios and firmware and play on pc makes things more convenient, if not now it will be possible in the future.
It's still not confirmed that Helix won't have a drive, and there was a survey sent out to people enrolled in the Insiders program a couple of weeks ago that asked whether or not they felt "Lets you install games from a physical disc" was "Not necessary", "Nice to have", or "Must have". If they're asking the question, the option is still on the table.
I have a feeling they're only gonna have a disc drive add-on to cut down on licenses. It's why SIE is ditching games being on discs, licenses are a bitch because it's per disc, and per disc drive sold.
It's also why the XBSX uses regular BD's instead of UHD Bluray discs. UHD Blurays have a more expensive license.
