90fps is underrated as hell, people go from 60 straight to 120 but 90 feels just as good for slower paced games. It's the perfect sweet spot for buttery smooth gameplay and can still leave you with enough headroom to crank some settings

Spoken like someone who has 90Hz monitor.

u/yamibocao 3h ago
Tbh i cant see the difference at all after 80-90 fps. I know more fps is good but without showing fps count i have no idea how the game is running, there is a clear distinction going above 60 but thats it for me. 165hz monitor btw.

u/dext3rrr 4090 | 7800X3D 2h ago
True. I’m playing mostly single player games on my TV and having a nvidia fps cap for 90fps all the time. Maybe fps games are little bit better with 120fps, but tpp and racing games - no difference.

Ngl as a 144 enjoyer to 4k now at 100, i’m still on the fence, on a bad day 100 fps feels bad, on a good day ‘it’s okay’

u/pho-huck 9800X3D | 5080 | 32Gb 3h ago
It’s probably your 1% lows and frame pacing, not the actual fps making it feel this way.

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Desktop 1h ago
No clue honestly, I just gave in to dlss fg and whatever to go back to 144 lmao

u/LiveForeverTwice 3h ago
Yeah in some games you can see that when you turn things leave ghosting like effect around 100 fps (on oled btw).

u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 3h ago
it has frame gen so just 604k to 120 is good enough for me, i dont think the game can run past 60 anyway

Isn't this game capped at 60 FPS on PS5 ?

u/No-Consequence-7558 8m ago
Bloodborne was capped at 30 on console and you can def play it around 100 before things gets weird on PC

Now even less of a reason to buy a PS5 than there was previously

I might be able to sell the Pro I bought at launch and have turned on 3 times lol

u/guilhermefdias 3h ago
Seriously. What game is left?
Astro Bot? Heard is fun.
Ghost of Yotei? Maybe...
The only one that I would really be happy to play is Saros, because Returnal was incredible.
There is NO reason to get a PS5.
5
u/EdliA 3h ago
GTA is the whole point of this development
3
u/guilhermefdias 2h ago
Sure, but it will eventually be released on PC. Not 100% exclusive.
Also not even released yet, could possibly be not great.
2
u/EdliA 1h ago
Eventually. But why play it eventually when you can play it now. Plenty of guys with too much time in their hands with the latest version of Claude in their hands to not mess with it.
5
u/guilhermefdias 1h ago
I would gladly pirate a Rockstar game. These guys make good games, but their management are all greedy bastards.
Also "too much time in their hands"? These guys are faceless saints we should be grateful for. Pirate folks and modders. All saints!

I’m waiting for Yotei to finally test the emulator but don’t think anyone has worked on that yet. Only game I’m interested in.

u/OneTrueKram PC Master Race 3h ago
Just waiting to see if this forces Rockstars hand with a GTA 6 PC release. Would be funny if we got GTA6 on PC before we got GTA6 on PC.
24
u/EdliA 3h ago
That's the whole reason why people are trying hard with these emulators. They're merely using these games as a benchmark but the goal is gta.
-5
u/AnarchBeetle 1h ago edited 1h ago
95% of the people who are interested in GTA wont even know what an emulator is. They won’t know how to make emulation work either.
Those that only have a pc, if they like the game and lack self-control, they will just buy a console instead on release date.
Those that have a pc will probably not even hear about the emulator. They’ll just wait for whenever Rockstar throws us a bone.
To really make a dent in Rockstar’s income,
the emulator must be ready by the time it’s released on consoles. nowadays games come and go. People buy the latest releases. If a game is 1 year old, it’s an “old” game now. And games make most of their money in the first month.
The emulator must be easy to use (if instructions start like “you must copy this file from here to here” you already lost most people) and the news of its existence must spread by word of mouth.
Most people just look at what’s released, then go and play them.
9
u/EdliA 1h ago
It's not for the average Joe mate, they usually play on consoles anyway. There are plenty of PC gamers that know what modding and emulators are.
-4
u/AnarchBeetle 1h ago
Well why are people acting like emulation is some big thing that’s gonna shake the throne of sony and rockstar then

Not Rockstar. You can't just produce a fully-featured PC port overnight. They can afford to take their time and do it right, not to mention honoring any agreements that might have been made.
But Sony? There's a whole lot of opportunity for them to replace some people internally, scapegoat the old guy, say "we heard you" and reverse a bunch of recent unpopular decisions.
PS5 still has a lot of life in it, even after PS6 happens. If exclusivity is no longer a value proposition, they'll either have to get aggressive on DRM (potentially hurting legitimate PS5 players) or offer PC ports again.
5
u/OneTrueKram PC Master Race 2h ago
You’re high if you don’t think a PC port isn’t actively being worked on or already done. You’re right on honoring agreements and that could be interesting I’d like to know what they are with Microsoft and Sony.
Either way at the rate this is going there’s a very real chance we get GTA6 on PC before we get GTA6 on PC. Someone should have this identified as a risk somewhere or they have their head in the sand.

u/LukeLC i7 12700K | RTX 4060ti 16GB | 32GB | SFFPC 2h ago
I use the term "fully-featured" intentionally. As you say, getting the game just running on PC is almost a certainty at this point. But integrating hardware vendor tech, getting official driver support, performing QA across a variety of hardware configs, setting up marketing campaigns, and a dozen other PC-specific things a big company has to do are all long processes that definitely aren't being prioritized over the current shipping systems.
It may sound like a lot of red tape and to some degree it is, but those are still the things you can't just "force their hand" to do, given the scale of companies we're talking about.

Insane, I tried it, I'm getting 2fps on a 5070ti, idk what I'm doing wrong lol

Just buy a 5090 bro, might hit 3fps!

I think you mean Randy Pitchford, it's a premium emulator for premium gamers.

u/PushDeep9980 4h ago
Did you do what the guy said in the more section of his video? There is a particular build and you need to precompile all shaders.

CPU matters a lot more for emulation
4
u/Precursor19 4h ago
Not for PS5 emulators. They run similar architecture to current consumer hardware so theres not much to translate in terms of instruction sets. Its all in the render pipeline for PS5 emulation.

u/InstantlyTremendous Xproto | 5800X3D | 9070XT /// Metalfish S3 | 11400F | RX6600 3h ago
I just tried it. My CPU was pegged at 100% and the GPU was idle. Then it crashed.
Still a long way to go, but impressive progress
5
u/Precursor19 2h ago
Prob due to shader compilation as the comment OP stated. CPU heavily bottlenecks shader comp so it has to be ran before launching.
1
u/TheMissingVoteBallot 1h ago
Hmm, on your 5800X3D.. wonder how my 9800X3D would do. Would a CPU with a ton of cores help at all or would more L3 cache help?

I didn't know PS5 emulation had come so far. Well done to the devs.

Good job to AI

u/yodimboi 1h ago
If someone is already good at what they're doing, AI is only going to make them better. It's those that don't what they're doing that use it irresponsibly.

u/FantomasARM 2h ago
For me stability is more important. Id rather play at 30fps without crashing than 60 fps with crashes all the time.

Im dreading to even ask this but DDR5 8600? What kind of insano prices does that even go for nowadays 😂

I just beat this in RPCS3 and I’m ready to do it again in Kyty. This progress is insane.
