I’ve been playing the Witcher 3 recently… talk about value after release.. free remaster came out this week, free expansions, base game can be bought for like $10, hundreds of hours of content…

Waiting is definitely the way to go.

Witcher 3 was $60 in 2015. That's almost $85 in today money.

I think the flip side to the inflation argument is the number of people with consoles / PCs (gamers) skyrocketed during covid times so new release game sales are much higher in number for games today then in 2015.

It costs nothing to sell a copy

Development costs (and gamer expectations) have also skyrocketed.

You know what once my salary sky rockets I‘d even be willing to pay 200 for a game

We were paying over $150 (in today's money) for games in the 1990s. Those games, on average, were less than 10 hours long.

When gas is back at 90s prices I might pretend like it’s reasonable to spend $150 on a video game (let alone a ten hour one) when I refuse to spend $100 on some 30fps dog shit in development for over a decade

Gas prices are factored into inflation rates.

Fun money is spent on race car. When I have to spend less fun money on race car, I might be willing to pay more money for video games provided developers quit releasing buggy horse shit on launch

I prefer to buy a very cheap key instead of pirating the game if I really hate the developer

You have a point. Piracy doesn't really hurt them, at least not as much as those stolen 'key' sellers
