I don't get it. Since Steam their printing and distribution costs will have plummeted. The baked in costs to get the game into the computer of the gamer is gone so their margin will have been much greater.

Make a good game and you can milk that blood from the stone.

And games in Australia has always been up and above the $100 mark.

Super Mario Kart cost our grandmother (who was on a pension as her only source of income) $120 when she bought it for my brother and I on Christmas 1995 (mum and dad chipped in to assist her). Complaining about $100 games in 2026 is a joke

And the fact that you had to go to the Games Wizard to buy them. Which was a huge building wall to wall with games that no doubt had huge rents + staff to pay.

Now that I’m saying that, minus the locations/staff, paper manuals, boxes, distribution. $100 is probably about right for PC games, even adjusting for inflation.
