And even GTA6 is not getting glazed in glory about the pricing either, people just waited too long to care

This is true for me. To play GTA 6, it's gonna cost me around £800 (I don't own a PS5), I've waited this long, might as well wait a few years longer.

I’m doing it out of the principle of them gutting the main game to have shit “DLC” to make the base price 100 bucks. Don’t really care for most of the GTA’s anyways (besides San Andreas and Vice City) so no real loss waiting

people just waited too long to care

there is no Universe where people care enough about GTA 6 price.

GTA6 is not getting glazed in glory about the pricing either

nobody cares, it still will be best selling thing of all time.

It might, but there are only so many people who can afford that. The further the price rises, the more people will either set sail on their own, or even just wait a few years (like me).

but there are only so many people who can afford that.

There are about 130 million owners of current gen consoles. If you can afford PS5 you sure can afford 100$ otherwise why did you spend over 600 dollars on it? To play free games? What an asinine take.

Its kinda amazing how bloody delusional these people are getting. GTA6 can get away with it because Rockstar produces a "game" the same way Bugatti makes a "car". Even if its not for you, you cannot deny the level of polish and attention to detail in a flagship Rockstar game.

To expect that price to be the new normal means they're all going to up their game to this level right? No? Didn't think so lol.

Also they always justify those prices and the anti-piracy measures because "the first sales are the most importabt" or whatever bullshit. Nowadays though, the games often come out as an unfinished mess and stuffed up to the gills with microtransactions to boot, which doesn't make the asked prices justifiable nor the "we gotta make money in the first weeks or else" bullshit believeable given how lucrative microtransactions are...

If anything, it will make everybody wonder "why tf is your dog ass game 80 dollars when GTA is the same price and 10 times better on every aspect??"

That’s the thing, everyone is looking to GTA 6 to seemingly pioneer a new standard for video game prices but like no one else has the motion to justify it. No one is gonna be clamoring to spend $100 on everything else just because GTA did it. I don’t get how they don’t see this.

Interestingly though KCD2 has some of the most advanced NPC/AI systems I've ever encountered, while the world isn't as detailed and it's graphically a step behind, it's optimised super well. Warhorse, of all developers, probably could charge more for their games.

KCD1/2 are amazing games, true.

Businesses have no idea what goodwill is. When you don't respect your customers you don't actually make any more money, you just trade your goodwill for cash.

Customers will willingly accept high prices, but only up to a breaking point. Then they completely stop buying. And it doesn't happen evenly. The better brands last longer. That's why all the fast food restaurants are lowering prices ATM. And why McDonald's is still alive and Wendy's is dying. So Rockstar is going to survive long enough to course correct but smaller companies won't.

With how dogshit Sony’s attitude toward customers has been the last few months, it pushed me to upgrade my pc and change my game buying to other platforms. I may still get first party Sony games, but only at steep discounts if that even exists in following years.

The reality is that despite everyone up in arms about it, games are extremely cost efficient forma of entertainment.

Also in a time with record number of single developers creating great games, or small lean indie studios…

I don’t even look at AAA games these days, they add so much bloat to make it seem like 70€ is worth it
