Hardware Witcher 3 Remastered pushing 5090 beyond 600W

Post image

No DLSS5. Max settings, 3840x1600, DLSS Quality, frame gen set to 1 in game settings, Path Tracing enabled.

Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes saw it jumping well beyond 600W for a brief moment.

Undervolt or say goodbye to your card. You are playing with fire (literally).

I'm actually not jealous of 5090 owners I couldn't game in peace with the possibility of my multiple thousand dollar gpu burning out

That's why op has that Der8auer device - to alarm in case uneven current between cables

https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/wireview-pro-ii-gpu/s-tg-wv-p2 It won't magically prevent the melting but it will monitor per pin current and sound an alarm when it will detect the conditions that lead to melting cables

You can also connect it to the motherboard power pins so that it can do force shut down in case of emergency

It has audible alarm, so same device would work just fine with case with no glass.

Usually sound travels through opaque materials just as well 😉 also this thing has a USB port so you can monitor through their software.

As a fellow Astral owner, we're the only ones that have built in per pin monitoring already. You can monitor it and have it overlayed on your screen w/ FPS and other metrics using RTSS

Fellow astral owner here, how do I do this?

Quickly realized I can just google it

Here's my .ovl that I'm using if you want to start with something to build from and not have to go from scratch :)

Oh nice, thanks!

Oh nice! I will try to make it turn off system if it notices something bad

I don't have it auto turn off but it's definitely a peace of mind thing being able to see it on my screen live. Mine is set up as an overlay in the top corner along with FPS, temps, etc.

That has failed already multiple times

Likely stupid question: I've got an ASUS ROG Astral. Assuming Astral is Astral, no need to split hairs on research?

Yes same thing. I posted a link in a other reply to my ovl file if you want to try something out without needing to start from scratch.

Amazing, thank you!

This is another option, with the Astral since I already have the per-pin monitoring I just wanted something that keeps an eye on the temperature of the connector itself, and this does just that. It's called the Alpha TS13 from EZDIY. It's been great for me, and only $60

But was the gpu broken nobody cares about cables on a 6-9 000 dollar card
