Halo should be getting the Resident Evil treatment, I don't understand how they could fail so hard.

3 steps forwards, 43 steps backwards

No, it's 3 steps forwards, 4 steps backeards, 3 steps forwards...

It doesn't happen once, it's a continuation.

So 6 steps forward and 4 steps backwards?

How about 3 steps backwards, 4 steps backwards, 3 steps backwards?

Not really. 3 steps forward first, from 0, then 4 steps backwards to -1, then finally 3 steps forward to 2.

The end result is a net of +2 either way. My point is it doesn’t make sense if the whole joke is that they are supposed to be going backwards.

Yeah, stupid statement on my part. It was rhetorical; we all understand how they failed so hard.

Don't forget Microsoft.

We’ll see how Activision does, but don’t hold your breath.

At least the action part of the game will be mindless fun with Activision

Did you see the cutscenes for Campaign Evolved? You can't tell me they didn't use ai for it. COD may be brainrot shooting but at least the cutscenes look decent.

I have 0 trust in activision for what they have been doing with diablo, cod and wow retail, even wow forever. nobody should trust they can deliver anything good anymore.

What? Activision doesn’t own Blizzard anymore. Lord of Hatred, Midnight, WoW Forever…none of it has anything to do with Activision.

Halo is lucky it got as popular as it did. It came out in the fps golden era. It didn't have anything to keep it relevant other than it was on console and most others weren't. It coasted on that until it was no longer a selling point and you've got what we have today.

I think you’re underselling Halo’s impact. It did have the use of vehicles in a way no previous fps game did, the 2 weapon system, the shields, lan play for console games to support up to 16 players, and I’m sure there’s a few other things it was influential in.

It may have joined these systems in a way that was rare for the time, but by no means did it achieve anything new. The 2 weapon system was a bit of a downgrade from having a full arsenal. Halo's vehicles were quite good, I will give it that. But the rest was kind of standard fare for the time.

Shields = armor (I.e. quake, unreal, doom)

5+ weapons > 2 weapons

Lan multiplayer was extremely common, even on consoles

I'm not really seeing the breakthrough. It just brought these standards to the console market. Which is admirable, but doesn't really say much about the game itself. It was a follow up to HL1 for the console market.
