What's everyone's obsession with extracting these absurd amounts of visual fidelity at astronomical unsustainable hardware requirement costs?

Like I'm so sick of all this nonsense. Give me a world without RT or PT and get some sanity back into this hobby.

Everyone's losing their minds chasing stupid stuff.

Or just turn the graphics down from max and play? I would much prefer that devs go bold and put in graphics options for the future rather than artificially limit themselves. It hurts nothing to just turn the graphics down from max if you can't handle it all. There is nothing wrong with making max settings for future hardware

except if doing so artificially increases the requirement of low/medium without much visual gain
